SENTENCE is a group of word that expresses a complete thought.

-- the two parts of the sentence are subject and predicate

Subject is the topic or the one that is being talked about in the sentence.
Predicate is the part of the sentence that expresses what is said about the subject.
Exercise #1
Underline the subject and encircle the predicate in the
following sentence.

MOTIVATION
I have here four popsicles, each group
has their own popsicle. Inside each
popsicle there is a pieces of paper, all
you need to do. Is arrange those words
to form a sentence. When you already
arrange the pieces of paper you need to
write it on the board, Place it on the
number according to your group.
GROUP 1. THE GIRL IS BEAUTIFUL.

GROUP 2. HOW OLD ARE YOU?

GROUP 3. KINDLY GET ME A CUP OF TEA.


OPEN THE DOOR.

GROUP 4. HURRAY! I WON.

1. DECLARATIVE SENTENCE – Is a sentence that states something and it


ends with a period.

Example:
• The girl is beautiful.

• The teacher is intelligent.

• My favorite food is Adobo.

2. INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE – Is a sentence that ask question and


punctuated by question mark.

Example:

• How old are you?

• Are you single?


GROUP 3. KINDLY GET ME A CUP OF TEA.

3. IMPERATIVE SENTENCE – Is a sentence that gives command and expresses
request. It has two kinds those are command and request sentence.
Request sentence – use the word kindly and please.

Command sentence – use in giving an order.

Example:
• Kindly get me a cup of tea.

• Please, leave me alone.

• Open the door.

4. EXCLAMATORY SENTENCE – Is a sentence that expresses a strong feelings
and it is punctuated by exclamation point.

Example:

• Hurray! I won.

• Yes! I passed.

THE FOUR KINDS OF SENTENCES ACCORDING TO PURPOSE.

1. DECLARATIVE SENTENCE – Is a sentence that states something and it ends with a period.
EXAMPLE: I love you.
2. INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE – Is a sentence that ask question and punctuated by question
mark.
EXAMPLE: do you want me?
3. IMPERATIVE SENTENCE – Is a sentence that gives command and expresses request.
EXAMPLE: Kindly do this for me.
4. EXCLAMATORY SENTENCE – Is a sentence that expresses a strong feelings and it is
punctuated by exclamation point.
EXAMPLE: Come here Ella, quick!

Directions. Put a color yellow if the sentence is declarative, red for
interrogative, orange for imperative and green for exclamatory.

What is your favorite type of fast food? My favorite is pizza. I just love pepperoni
and double cheese. Sometimes I think I could eat pizza in morning, even lunch and
dinner! All of this talk about pizza making me hungry. Kindly order pizza for me.
ASSIGNMENT!
Write a paragraph using different kinds of sentence according to
its purpose about your “ HIGH SCHOOL LIFE”. Write it in long
bond paper.
