The document discusses the post-methods era of language teaching, which focuses on active, student-centered learning through collaboration, technology integration, and real-world problem-solving. In this approach, learners take an autonomous and central role, while teachers facilitate customized instruction. Materials, media, and a variety of activities are used flexibly as resources to meet learners' needs. The strengths of this approach include increased student engagement and creativity, while weaknesses can include lack of structure and limited access to technology. The document recommends post-methods techniques for improving higher-order thinking skills across proficiency levels.

ERA Kumaravadivelu (2006) Characteristics of the Post-Methods Era
Focus on Active Learning
Contextual Learning Student-Centered Approach Application of Technology Collaboration and Communication 21st Century Skills Emphasis on Problem-Solving The Objective of Learning in Post-Methods Era The objective of learning in the post-methods era remains focused on providing meaningful and effective learning experiences for students. The Roles of Learners According to Toofal & Barjasteh (2018), learner is an autonomous learner in post-method including two interrelated aspects of autonomy; academic autonomy and social autonomy. Post-method provides a situation that learner can identify learning strategies, and styles by administering or having administered their own language teaching histories. Unlike academic autonomy, social autonomy relates to the learner’s ability and willingness to function effectively as a cooperative member of a classroom community. It provides teacher to get adequate feedback on the areas of difficulty to solve the problem. It manages the advantage to communicate with competent speakers. In the post-methods era, learners take on an active and central role in the language learning process. The shift from traditional teacher- centered approaches to learner-centered approaches places learners at the forefront of their own learning journey. The Roles of Teacher According to Kumaradivelu (2006) cited by (Toofal & Barjasteh, 2018) stated teacher in the post-method era is at the heart of post-method pedagogy. Teachers add, adjust, and revise the methods and approaches based on their real classroom. Teachers’ role is both didactic and facilitate and serves primarily to mediate the coursebook materials The Roles of Material In the post-methods era, materials play a crucial role in supporting learner-centered approaches to language teaching and learning. Materials are not seen as the sole focus of instruction but rather as resources that can be adapted, supplemented, and customized to meet the specific needs of learners. The Roles of Media In the post-methods era, media plays a significant role in supporting language teaching and learning. Media refers to various forms of technology, including digital tools, audiovisual materials, and online platforms. Activities/Strategies in the Post-Methods Era a. Collaborative projects b. Problem-based discussion c. Simulation or role play d. Community-based learning e. Independent research f. Creative project The Strengths and Weaknesses of the Post-Methods Era The Strengths : Students become more active Student-Centered Learning Creativity and Initiative The Weaknesses : Lack of Clear Structure Time Limitation Limited Access to Technology and Resources The Application of the Post-Methods Era Beginner Level Elementary Level Intermediate Level Advanced Level Conclusion The application of the post-method approach can improve students' critical and creative thinking skills, which in turn can have a positive impact on their learning achievement. Recommendation Teachers are expected to critically evaluate the teaching approaches and strategies they use, and respond dynamically to the needs and development of their students. Teachers are also expected to continue to learn and develop their abilities as effective learning facilitators. The post-methods era is good to apply because in this method the focus of this method in students-centered, so in the class activities the students are more active than the teacher. Terima Kasih
