Centro Escolar Campoalegre is a private, nonprofit, bilingual, only girls, day
school located in Guatemala City. Founded in 1970 the school has grown to

Campoalegre’s school year begins in January and ends in mid-October.
It consists of 180 school days organized into four quarters and it observes local Guatemalan
holidays and schedules recesses in Easter, mid-June, and early autumn.

• Students follow a common core, university preparatory bilingual curriculum as mandated
by the Guatemalan Ministry of Education.
• In 9th & 10th Grades students take an average of 13 courses per year.
• In 11th & 12th Grades students complete the two-year International Baccalaureate
Programme in addition to local requirements.
• Each full year academic course passed earns 1 credit. IB courses in Grades 11th & 12th are
weighted with an additional 0.5 credit.
• Spanish is the main language of instruction (80% of the academic courses are taught in
Spanish).
