1.Details of Problem/Potential Problem:

Equipment: Power Swivel “1” Model: Engine:CAT C9 – Pump: XK-150

Swivel rotating normally both directions but could not be able to raise torque over 2500
ft/lbs on right direction.

2.Report any corrective action required to rectify problem: : ‫اقتراح لحل المشكلة‬-2

PROBLEM RESOLUTION ‫الحل النهائى‬

- Check hydraulic cycle.

- Remove quick couplers and still same problem
- Get another unit to complete the job, the other unit working normally in drilling but could not read drilling
torque on gauges.

- Remove swivel unit and install on the unit no.1 to complete the job.
- By investigating of the last operation which was month ago and swivel never used after, swivel unit was

working in stuck for 3 days trying to get string out of well stuck with rig overpull 180,000 lbs and swivel
working on torque 11,000 ft/lbs for 12 hrs continues then the torque started in decreasing gradually till
reached 7,000 ft/lbs which swivel couldn't be able to get over.
- Mechanic checked the swivel unit and found it became overheated and hyd oil was too hot, stopped job
immediately for one hour to get swivel cool and then continued job by working hour and resting half hour.
- All tests have done and found problem in hyd motor, disassembled hyd motor by specialist and found
many pistons stuck and two pistons are broken.
- We checked the oil and filters, they were in good condition and the hyd oil was clear except finding The
remnants of the fractures resulting from pistons cracking.
- Sent hydraulic pump to Hydraulic Misr and swivel motor to General Hydralic.
- Complete overhaul to the hydraulic pump.
- Change piston set.
- Change ring set.
- Change roller set.
- Assemble all parts and test are in progress.
