Work Order: 2019-10224
12M Routine, Performance Test, Fire Pumps
Note: Below to be performed by competent person (3rd party).

Note: - Fire Pumps must be tested annually for performance by developing their characteristic curves (head
versus flow rate) using instruments to measure flow, pressure and rotation.
- These instruments must be certified and calibrated as per INMETRO.
- The efficiency of the pump must correspond to manufacturer specifications as well as NORMAN-01 / DPC
section 4, to ensure proper functionality in case of fire.

NOTE: This PM MUST be performed along with 3M routine.

1. Remove coupling guard and visually examine coupling assembly for conditions listed below:
- damage
- looseness
- missing hardware

2. If applicable, remove coupling cover and visually examine couplings for conditions listed below:
- wear
- looseness
- misalignment

NOTE: There are many types of coupling connectors e.g. flex grids, rubber elements and drive spiders.

3. Visually examine coupling connector for conditions listed below:

- damage
- wear
- looseness

4. Check shaft alignment, and realign if required.

NOTE: Isolation valves MUST be examined with flow to make sure that they are operating correctly.

5. Visually examine connections for leaks.

6. Visually examine isolation valves for leaks.

7. If fitted, perform pump low pressure auto-start test.

NOTE: To pass minimum capacity test, pump must supply 50 psi (3.45 bar) at the highest hydrant in the system
with 2 hydrants open.

8. Perform pump minimum capacity test.

9. Measure fire pump discharge pressure during pump minimum capacity test and record in RMS.

NOTE: Below Task MUST be performed by an electrical technician.

10. Measure motor amps during pump minimum capacity test and record in RMS.

NOTE: Pump MUST be evaluated under normal operating conditions.

11. Listen to Pump for excessive noise and vibration.

12. Make sure that the fire pump relief valves are set correctly.
