Daily Progress Report

Dated 01-09-2020
Overview:
Visited the power plant site and followed the operation and maintenance
activities performed during the day.

Operation Activities:
The complex was operating with a combination of 1+1 minimum load in the
morning.
 GT-1 was on standby on NPCC demand.
 GT-2 was on pre-select load.
 GT-3 startup demand was received
 During startup, GT-03 tripped on ‘Ignition exciter on, channel fault’ alarm.
 GT-3 failed to fire during the first attempt.
 Again start command for GT-3 was given and in the second attempt GT-3
was fired.
 At the time of synchronization of 52G with grid, wrong grid code was
selected and because of that 52G got de-synched automatically. After the
selection of grid code GT-3 was successfully synchronized with grid.
 ST was in operation.
Maintenance Activities:
During the day, visited the plant site area and closely observed the maintenance
activities performed by different departments. The maintenance activities
attended are listed below:

CW Pump C:
The hydraulic skid hose pipe of CW pump C outlet valve was damaged and
because of the doubt that it may rupture if it is continuously taken in service,
mechanical maintenance team decided to replace the hose pipe. Due to
unavailability of spares, the hose pipe of once through pump A was used to
replace the damaged hose pipe. A test run after the working was done and
everything was normal.
CW Pump C:
In the hydraulic oil skid of CW pump C, the oil level was low. Mechanical
maintenance team attended the activity and refilled the hydraulic oil M-46 in the
hydraulic skid to the required level.
Raw Water Pump A:
At WTP, the raw water pump A motor was not working, it was reported by the
WTP operation department. Mechanical maintenance team attended the activity
and de-coupled the motor from the pump. Inspection of motor was carried out by
electrical maintenance team and during inspection they found that wiring of the
motor is burnt.
EDG:
As part of the schedule, the test run of emergency diesel generator was carried
out by the operation department after the mechanical maintenance team
performed the cleaning of EDG and visual inspection of the generator. During the
test run, the temperatures and vibrations were normal and no leakage/seepage
was observed.
ST Lube Oil Purifier:
Operation department took the portable lube oil purifier in service for 8 hours for
the purification of ST lube oil tank for smooth running of turbine.
EH Oil Circulating Pump:
The scheduled preventive maintenance activity of EH oil circulating pump was
also carried out by mechanical maintenance team in order to identify the
temperatures of oil and also to identify the leakage/seepage of oil. No
abnormality was observed.
Sponge Ball Cleaning System:
Operation department took the sponge ball cleaning system in service today for
the cleaning of condenser water box tubes and brass wall for continuous 2 hours.
The collecting time of balls in the collector was also set at 2 hours and then the
balls collected were counted.
