Liability of Russia for involvement of Wagner

Group in Africa-2182075, Sambit Basu

The news on the internet is very biased but from what I gathered I have certain points to share
a whole summary and my views: -
 From BBC.com, we get the information that the Wagner group was given about
86.262 billion rubles which is about $1billion from May 2022 to May 2023 alone for
salaries and bonuses which came from the defence ministry and state budget as stated
by Vladimir Putin.
 The leader of the Wagner group, by the name of Yevgeny Prigozhin had very good
friendship with the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
 This group which has committed extremely inhuman acts of terrorism was founded by
the Russian Government to interfere in international matters while denying direct
interference of Russia in international matters of its allies and enemies. This implies
that Russia already wanted to influence international and civil wars of allied
countries.
 The Wagner group is shown to be a mercenary group which means that Russia can
claim that it is an independent action of that group, especially after it rebelled.
 The Wagner group operates in several African countries like Central African
Republic, Mali, Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe. These countries have a good relationship
with Russia. Russia concentrates on creating relations with the African countries that
might have wars and has close allies like Khalifa Haftar in Libya, Colonel Assimi
Gota in Mali, and through those connections eyed the profitable mineral resources of
these countries torn by internal war.
 The Wagner group provided to protection to these regimes allowing Russia to profit
off of the resources belonging to the locals.
 The Western people always have an attitude of being a savior to the Africans and
Asians from the beginning of colonization and even happening today. Russia has also
started doing such while exploiting the rich natural resources of Africa.
