Causes of Russian Invasion

The Russo-Ukrainian War is an ongoing war between Russia (together with pro-Russian separatist
forces) and Ukraine. It was started by Russia in February 2014 following the Ukrainian Revolution
of Dignity, and initially focused on the status of Crimea and the Donbas, internationally recognised
as part of Ukraine.

China and Saudi Arabia are major allies, with relationship between the two countries growing
significantly in recent decades A majority of Saudi Arabians have expressed a favorable view
of China, bahrian, us, uk, sudan and turkey

Saudi Arabia is a founding member of several multinational organizations, including OPEC, the

United Nations, the Arab League. It is also a founding member of the Gulf Cooperation
Council, Muslim World League, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and the Islamic
Development Bank—all of which are headquartered in Saudi. The country plays a prominent role in
the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and in 2005 joined the World Trade
Organization.

of goods, fueling dramatic cost increases and product shortages, and creating catastrophic food
shortages around the world, according to experts at a virtual symposium hosted by the MIT Center
for Transportation and Logistics.

The response of the Gulf Arab states to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has been somewhat revealing
of the depth of fissures between the United States and its Gulf allies. The “stress test” United Arab
Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Washington, Yousef Al Otaiba, hinted at on March 3, was on full
display in the pushback by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries—particularly Saudi Arabia
and the UAE—against pressure from Washington to condemn the invasion and side with Ukraine.
