Sample Final Exam Questions 2023

Final Exam is scheduled:


Tuesday April 18, 1:00-3:00 p.m. in A301 - (Our usual lecture time and room)

All questions presented here are from:


Walker, K. M. Applied Mechanics for Engineering Technology, 8th Edition.

Please note: The exact questions will not be on the exam paper
• Questions will require an understanding of the various method used to solve the problem
• Please note the questions are just for review, in addition students should also:
o Review previous homework assignments and the materials posted on SLATE
o Review questions and tips provided during the lectures
• Equations will be provided on the exam paper
• The exam paper will consist of question(s) from the following chapters
o Chapter 9-Mass Moment of Inertia
o Chapter 13-Kinetics
o Chapter 14-Work. Energy and Power
o Chapter 15-Impulse and Momentum
o Possible concept and other questions discussed during the lecture/lab sessions
o It is also possible that some questions will need to be solved using a combination of the concepts. For
example solve using inertia check your answer using impulse momentum

In preparation for the final exam below are some additional notes
• Sheridan’s academic policies apply
• Ensure your final answer is identified, marks are loss for not identifying your final answer
• Equations will be provided on the exam paper
• Review all posted materials (videos etc.)
• Review assignments
• Attempt all sample questions presented on following pages of this document
• If you believe information is missing, then clearly state your assumptions
• Approximate time for the exam 80 minutes – approximately 6 questions
• Possible format is the use the same diagram for various questions (e.g. Inertia and energy problems)
• Exam booklet will be provided. Please do not sperate the exam booklet
• Read the question carefully prior to solving
• Concept or worded questions are normally limited to a maximum of 4 lines
• Handwritten work must be legible
