GRAMMAR 1

Hi Catalina,

Thanks for leaving me a comment at PenPal World. Hope you’re doing well.

I’m Piero and I’m a graduated sound engineer and I’m originally from Peru, but I’m living in
Nevada with two flatmates: Nick and Noah. I’m now working for RCA records. I usually start my
day at around 7 am. I get up, have a shower and drink some coffee to perk up and head to the
office. This week we’re working with Rihanna, and actually I have a ticket for her concert next
Friday. I’m thrilled but I’m not sure whether I’ll be able to go. It depends on how fast I finish with
all the paperwork my manager sent to my email yesterday, and since it is a lot, I’m depending
on Karen, the new assistant, to finish it on time, she’s a gem.

Everyone arrives at the office at 10, but I’ve been coming to work earlier as my computer’s
always crashing for some reason, and Noah, who always helps me fix it when it crashes, is out
of town. He’s usually really kind but he’s being really moody since he broke up with his girlfriend.
Anyway, I usually work till 6 o’clock almost non-stop and drive back home.

At the weekend, I have some time to read something or binge-watch some series on Netflix. I
really want to see the Crown, the main actress appears to be doing well, and she’s appearing on
the British Vogue next week.

It’s getting late, I’m eating an instant Chinese noodle soup and it tastes good, a bit spicy but not
that much. And Nick is tasting it with terror in his eyes.

Please write back and tell me more about you. Where are you from and what’s your daily
routine?

Cheers,

Piero

GRAMMAR 2

Hi Lucy,

Well, here we are at the Empire Polo Club for Coachella Festival. The journey was really long. I
don’t sleep very well because I’m not used to lying on the ground with so little space to move
around, but the shows are worth the sacrifice. It’s day two and people are still coming in flocks.
Is really noise but everyone seems to be nice. I’m getting used to paying a fortune every time I
want something to eat…10 bucks for a hot dog, can you believe it? Anyway, are you getting
used to the peace and quiet now that Dan and I aren’t around? Please, don’t forget to feed Max
and water the plants. Have to go now. See you next week.

Love, Sarah.

Were there any problems? If so, which ones?
