Definition of Terms

For better understanding, the following terms are operationally defined:

Level of self-efficacy refers to the confidence of the beliefs of the private Senior High

School teachers in the First District of Iloilo on how they think, act, and feel in terms of their

efficacy on student engagement, instructional materials, and classroom management, which will

be assessed by the administrators, teachers, and students using this rating scale in ascending order:

1- Very low, 2-Low, 3- High, and 4- Very High.

Efficacy in student engagement refers to the teachers' strategy on how to deal with

or engage the students to participate in academic and co-curricular or school-related

activities.

Efficacy in instructional strategies refers to the effective strategy of the teacher

according to the teaching objectives adapting different learners and contexts.

Efficacy in classroom management refers to teachers' beliefs on how they can

execute and organize and maintain the classroom and how they influence students' behavior

in the classroom.

Level of work commitment refers to the commitment of teachers of private senior high

school in the First District of Iloilo in time of the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of the teaching

profession, school, teaching/learning, which will be assessed in the study using this rating scale:

1- Very low, 2-Low, 3- High, and 4- Very High.

Teachers' commitment to the teaching profession involves an affective

attachment to the profession or occupation associated with personal identification with

the career and satisfaction as a teacher.

Teachers' commitment to school refers to teachers' belief and acceptance of the

goals and values of the institution and strong desire to maintain membership in the

institution or school.

Teachers' commitment to teaching/learning refers to being committed to the

students and lead classroom activities more meaningful, introducing new ways of

learning, and altering the teaching materials so that they are more relevant and of greater

interest to students.

Designation refers to the administrators, teachers, and students of the Private Senior High

School of the 1st District of Iloilo, who will act as assessors in the study.

Administrators refer to the principals who will serve as one of the respondents in

determining the self-efficacy and work commitment of the teachers.

Students refer to the grade 11 & 12 senior high school students who will also

respond in the assessment.

Private Senior High School teachers refer to the senior high school teaching

personnel who will also act as one of the respondents in the study.

Age is classified as young or old teachers, which will serve as one of the

demographics correlated with teacher leadership.

Sex is categorized as male or female teachers, which will serve as one of the

demographics to which the teacher leadership assessment will be correlated.

Length of service is the teacher's number of years of working experience,

classified as probationary or permanent, to be correlated as one of the demographics

to work commitment.
