Introduction

Education transpires through the marriage of teaching and learning,

hence, teaching is partway significant, and has equal, if not greater part in

the academic performance of the pupils. Teaching encloses all the verbal

and non-verbal behaviors showed by a teacher in a labor to convey

knowledge within an academic environment. Behavior as defined by B. F.

Skinner , 1904, is the way in which one acts or conducts oneself

specifically towards others. The teacher thus, has a prior task to do in

furnishing an emboldening learning setting for their pupils to exceed

academically. Therefore, teachers’ behavior possibly, the utmost essential

of all influences on pupils’ behavior. Different teachers show different

kinds of behaviors in pupils for example some are distant and other are

sociable; some are strict and stern and other is flexible. Teachers’

behavior as mentioned by Murray et.al , 1995 , is mainly identified in terms

of interaction , pacing , disclosure and rapport which has great strike on

pupils learning and encouragement that is objective directed action and is

the firepower needed to bring off duty or attain aspiration. It is also thought

to be a broker between the teacher’s teaching and pupils learning.

Effective teachers have sound knowledge of the subject, take

personal interest in each pupil, establish a caring loving atmosphere and

show interest with pupils. A teacher must know the art of communication.

A large number of studies have revealed that interpersonal relation

between the pupils and teacher are very important for the pupils

motivation and achievement in all subjects. Hence, healthy teacher-pupil

interpersonal relation is very important and requisite for the pupils to

engage in learning activities (Brekelmans et al., 2002). A teacher’s

behavior generally refers to her disposition, though there are other factors

as well. Behavior encompasses a teacher's level of enthusiasm,

resourcefulness, willingness to help and knowledge of the content. All of

these play an important role in overall classroom performance. Pupils are

affected by a teacher’s behavior; teachers should focus on their behavior

about content as much as the content itself. The teachers play an

important role in honing pupils to be globally competitive individuals. The

way how the teachers express themselves in teaching- their behavior

towards pupils have an effect on their learning and their academic

performance. Teacher’s behavior is composed of clarity, enthusiasm,

interaction, organization, pacing, disclosure, speech and rapport (Rashid

and Zaman, 2018)

This research will aim to help administrator , teachers , and future

researchers to carefully and creatively implement certain effective

interventions program to cater the specific need of the pupils specialIy in

this time of pandemic . In addition , educational settings, interventions are

often used to describe a focused teaching session, which is a deviation

away from existing teaching practice. Interventions in schools can be one-

to-one or delivered as a group. As a result, Grade 6 teachers of Malapong

Elementary School S.Y. 2021-2022 has targeted, some interventions

program to address a certain weakness . These interventions are likely to

be more formally monitored in order to track the pupil’s progress, whereas

other interventions are more flexible, and adjust according to the changing

needs of the pupils. Some interventions can be costly and time-

consuming. In order to be effective, there needs to be a demonstrable

impact, so structuring interventions requires strategic thinking. There are

several types of instructional interventions identified and are one-to-one

interventions, peer tutoring, metacognition and self-regulation and

homework intervention (Hawthorne, 2021).

Research Question:

1. What are the learners level of perception on teachers’ behavior as

basis for intervention program of Grade 6 teachers of Malapong

Elementary School?

2. Based on finding what intervention program could be proposed ?
