1. Argumentative Essay Instructions: Write an outline for a 700 word argumentative essay about one of
the following topics.
Should students take a gap year? If you consider they should, how
should they use the time? If you consider it not to be necessary
and/or useful, defend that position.
To what extent should art have a meaning? Does all art have a
meaning? Include different forms of art, (music, theater, film, …)
2. Rubric: Read the rubric carefully; do not forget to highlight your essay as requested.
3. Outline Instructions: Select one of the structures seen in class: point by point or block structure. Use
small sentences and key concepts. This outline is mandatory.
In the outline, include properly referenced sources that will help you support your arguments.
Remember, the quotes and citations you add in the essay will not be taken into account into the
final word count. These citations must also be less than two lines long.
4. Recommendations:
- Avoid basic connectors.
- NOT TRANSLATE DIRECTLY.
- Check your spelling mistakes.
- Check your grammar mistakes.
- Do not use personal pronouns (I, you, he, she).
- Read your essay after you have finished at least one more time (Look for grammar, punctuation, or
spelling mistakes).
