Research Work conducted related to Islamic Finance
1. Detailed analysis, evaluation and comparison between the Islamic banking industry and Islamic insurance (takaful)
industry of Malaysia and Pakistan highlighting the challenges and concluding with noteworthy recommendations.

2. Deep analysis of AAOIFI standards and comparison with IFRS.

3. Critically evaluated and reviewed articles written by well known Islamic finance scholars. The articles include:

• “Exploring the workings of Shari’ah supervisory board in Islamic finance: A perspective of Shari’ah scholars from
GCC” written by Muna Al Mannai and Habib Ahmed (2019).
• “A Political Economy Approach to Islamic Economics: Systemic Understanding for an Alternative Economic System”
written by Mehmet Asutay (2007).
• “The Effects of Regulation and Supervision on the Risk-taking Behaviour of Islamic Banks” written by Mehmet
Asutay, Yusuf Ayturk and Ercument Aksak (2020).

4. Critically analysed the failure of Islamic banks to fulfil the social and ethical goals (maqasid al Shariah), and recommended
new innovative organizational formats and structures that reflect Islamic values and principles better.

5. Discussed the methodological differences between Islamic moral economy, positive economics and empirical positivism.
How Islam and economics are related by referring to the observed relationship between fiqh and ethical foundations of
Islamic moral economy. How maqasid al-Shari’ah are an essential methodology of Islamic moral economy.

6. Detailed analysis of the regulatory standards developed by the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) for Islamic banks
and to what extent they are based on the conventional Basel standards.

7. Discussed the Internationalisation of Islamic Finance and where is it headed post COVID 19. This research paper analysed
how COVID 19 affected the Islamic finance industry and what is expected of this industry after this crisis. How this industry
carries a great responsibility in supporting the recovery from this crisis especially in aiding the micro, small and medium
enterprises and other groups which are greatly affected by the pandemic. Innovation is necessary for the future progress of
Islamic finance. FinTech and digitalisation are taking over the finance industry especially from the time COVID 19 started.
Conventional banks were quick to adapt; Islamic banks have to do the same if they want to stay active in the market as a
competitor of conventional banks. Islamic social finance tools (such as waqf) and Green Sukuk are highlighted in the study
as the future is with sustainable financial instruments. This report explains how the Islamic development bank would play a
key role in creating a better future for Islamic finance.
