According to Hussain, Sabar, and Jabeen (2019) form their study entitled A Study of the
Association between Self-Directed Learning Readiness and Academic Achievement of Student-
Teachers in Pakistan that Self-directed learning is quickly becoming one of the most popular
trends among 21st-century students. This study looked into if there is a link between student-
teachers' academic achievement and their readiness for Self-Directed Learning (SDLR). This
was accomplished through the use of a quantitative technique and a correlation research
design. The statistical analysis revealed that student-teachers' readiness for self-directed
learning is high. It was discovered that there is no substantial difference in the population based
on gender or marital status.

Pachnowski and Jurczyk (2000) proposed that the administration of distance learning
has recognized the necessity to create a preassessment instrument for its distance learning
students that would be able to use the tool to assess their readiness for the particular character
of distant learning. This focuses to determine whether the student characteristic of self-
directedness correlates with student success in Web-based courses, as defined by course
grade.

REVIEW OF RELATED STUDIES

With the advent of remote education, it is more important than ever to assess students'
preparation for online learning and anticipate their performance. (Doe et al., 2017). To test this
construct of online preparedness, several survey instruments have been developed. A study of
the existing research, however, reveals that these measures have varied limits in terms of
capturing all of the domains of student online preparedness. The study designed to assess
undergraduate students' online preparedness, which covered components including information
communications technology engagement, motivation, self-efficacy, and learner characteristics.
With the addition of these subscales, online learning readiness surveys become even more
reliable and valid in capturing all dimensions of student online readiness.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

According to Emel Dikbas Torun (2020) stated from the study of online distance learning
in higher education: E-learning readiness as a predictor of academic achievement that self-
directed learning was revealed to be the strongest predictor of academic accomplishment,
whereas desire for e-learning was also discovered to be a predictor of academic achievement.
Self-efficacy on the internet/online/computer and learner control were not proven to be important
determinants of academic accomplishment. It is stated that, particularly with the widespread
adoption of Covid-19 around the world, education is rapidly shifting from face-to-face to online
learning in an unanticipated and abrupt manner; thus, e-learning preparation must be carefully
considered within this new educational paradigm.

According Ünal, Y., Alır, G., and Soydal, İ. (2014) from their study entitled Students
Readiness for E-Learning: An Assessment on Hacettepe University Department of Information
Management students are one of the most important factors to consider when implementing e-
learning systems at institutions. It is critical to understand the readiness of students in order to
design robust and effective e-learning systems. The e-learning readiness of Hacettepe
University's Department of Information Management (DIM) students will be studied in this
article.

REVIEW OF RELATED STUDIES

Valentina Arkorful and Nelly Abaidoo (2015) conduct research on the role of e-learning
in higher education, as well as the benefits and drawbacks of its implementation. This research
looks into the effectiveness of employing e-learning in tertiary education. The use of current
information and communication technology for teaching and learning is critical in higher
education institutions. This study examines the literature and provides a scholarly context for the
research by examining some of the contributions made by various academics and organizations
to the notion of e-learning, particularly its application in teaching and learning in higher
educational institutions. Through surveys and other observations, it reveals some of the
perspectives that people and institutions around the world have on the adoption and integration
of e-learning technology in education.
