Introduction
For a long time, there was a feeling among the people of
finding way for the solution of Dhaka city traffic jams.
traffic jam and traffic congestion in Dhaka City and its
nearby areas are beyond toleration for a long time.

Rapid economic development and industrialization,
there is no alternative to development infrastructures
and mega projects for roads, rails, powers, gas and
other utilities and amenities.
Among them, road connectivity is vital for overall
development and smooth movement of the people of
the country within shortest possible time.
Thinking and taking it as a burning issue i.e. especially
to ease the traffic jam in Dhaka City and its nearby
areas present government has taken various
pragmatic steps and measures in that line. The metro
rail project is one of them.

What is Metro rail?
➢Metro Rail is a Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS).
➢It is a convenient, fast, efficient, reliable, modern, user
friendly, comfortable and affordable mode of urban
transport.
➢It is safe and eco-friendly.
➢It is electric and requires only 1/5th energy per
passenger km compared to road based transport
systems.

We conducted the survey on 300 respondents, among
them 100 respondents are from metro rail station and
rest of the 200 respondents are from different areas
of Dhaka.
The gender distribution of the respondents is
discriminate with 26% female and 74% male
respondents.

Conclusion
✓From our study we found that most of the
people are very excited on this transport system.
✓Ticketing system is new for the passengers so
they are feeling problem.
✓Operational system is new so some difficulties
facing from user end .
✓Lift and elevator are available but not sufficient.

✓Exit system is too much time consuming because
only one way fixed for the passenger .
✓Metro Rail service not available in every area
that’s why everyone required this as soon as
possible in every area.
✓No sufficient seat and accommodation.

Recommendations
✓Ticketing system is new for the passengers that’s why the
authority helping with volunteers to the passengers to make it
user friendly.
✓Operational system very recent started, day to day it
becoming more upgraded and convenient for metro rail user.
✓Most of the passenger’s are very happy with this transport
system and if all the routes are opened, most of the
passenger will be dependents on it.

Limitations
✓We faced many questions from the respondents and many of
them didn’t response on our survey.
✓We conducted the survey on 300 people due to time limitations
which could be larger scale for more better results.
