1. Can silence be considered to be a kind of music? How?

Answer: The absence of sound cannot be categorized as music. Silence itself is not music, yet
music is a form of sound, which is why this is the case. However, for something to be referred to
as music, it must have rhythm and notes. Because music must have notes and a rhythm in order
to be considered, silence is not music. The use of silence to highlight the sound that comes
before or after it is not music. Since silence does not naturally contain a rhythm or notes, it is not
regarded as a form of music.

2. Is it possible that some types of music may be considered as noise? Explain.

Answer: Yes, because noise is often referred to in music as an unpitched, undefinable,
uncontrolled, loud, or undesirable sound. All musical instruments, including the human voice,
have noise in their tones, but unpitched percussion instruments and electric guitars with
distortion especially do. Electronic equipment produces a wide range of noise colors. In this
sense, even sounds that would be considered to be musically ordinary in another context become
noise if they prevent the receiver from receiving a message that is desired by them. Lastly, one
musical genre could be a noise if it doesn’t suit on your music taste.

3. Reflect on the saying. "The Silence is Deafening". Can silence I be considered as a sound?
Can silence be considered as a form of noise? Explain.
Answer: The old saying "THE SILENCE IS DEAFENING" is true whether considered a sound
or a particular kind of noise. The experiments mentioned above provide evidence for this theory,
which holds that when there is silence, our brain creates noise to fill the emptiness, which we
experience as ringing or buzzing in the ears. However, only the deaf can attain this level of calm
because it is paradoxically loud to hearing people. Since silence emerges from the absence of
sound, which is what makes it audible to us, it is considered as both a sound and a noise, as I
have already stated.

4. Listen to “Tipang Bulag-Bulagan- A Roldan” can this be considered a music or noise? explain
and defend your answer
Answer: Noise is defined as any unwanted sound that is loud, unpleasant, or disruptive to
hearing. When I listened to Track 3 Tipang Bulag-bulagan, it was really uncomfortable to my
ears since it's really not on harmony and doesn't have rhythm like normal music has, but on the
other hand, there's what we call noise music, which is a kind of music marked by the expressive
use of noise. Noise music includes a wide range of musical styles and sound-based creative
practices that feature noise as a primary aspect, so it's a combination of music and sound in my
opinion.
