Students Guidelines
Speaking Task 1
Speaking task 1
Speaking task 1 is a group task for groups of 3 or 4 students. You are
required to submit a video recording of Speaking Task 1 in lesson 7,8
(lesson after Pesach break).

The preparations for the recordings of Speaking Task 1 are done in

class. In groups, each one of you prepares her/his student profile. You
may want to refer to the names of you department on the English version
of the YVC site: English --- Academic Studies --- Undergraduate Studies.

In addition, here are a number of example questions:

*What is your name? Age? Place of birth? Family? Etc.
My name is … etc.
*What do you study? I study ….
*Why did you choose this field of study? I chose this field of study
because….
*Is there a certain topic in your field of study, which interests you
especially? Etc.
*Is there a specific event or person in your life, which/who influenced
your choice of study?
*What do you plan to do after you get your degree?
*How do you see your professional future?

Each group talk will include a number of the above questions, not
necessarily all of them, and, preferably, additional questions which you
make up.
In the recording, each one of you introduces a peer student (not
yourself). This way the personal profile presentation becomes a
communicative activity. In addition, you learn to use the 3rd person
Present Simple.

Suggestion: In the last part of the introduction, each one of you could
refer to one characteristic or fact/ circumstance she/he shares with a peer
2

student, and to one difference between them.

Some example phrases for your students:

Please meet …. John
John studies….
John chose this field of study because….
John is especially interested in….
After finishing his studies, John wants to……
Both (peer student) and I ……………. Etc.
He/she ………….., but I ………………Etc.

Video Recordings are submitted in lesson 7, 8 –after Pesach break.
