Pumpkin Pie

Materials:

3mm Crochet Hook
Wool Needle (for sewing)

Abbreviations:

ch – chain
dc – double crochet
htr – half treble crochet
inc – 2 double crochet stitches into next stitch
htrinc – 2 half treble crochet stitches into next stitch
sl st – slip stitch
f/o – fasten off by slip stitch in next stitch

Note:

Unless stated work in continuous rounds marking last stitch of each row with a stitch marker
before proceeding with the next.

When stuffing parts make sure that you don’t overstuff them as you don’t want the stuffing to
show through when complete.

Pumpkin Filling:
Using Burnt Orange
Row 1: ch2, dc 7 into 2nd st from hook (alternatively dc 7sts into magic ring) (7)
Row 2: inc x7 (14)
Row 3: (dc into next st, inc) x7 (21)
Row 4: (dc into next 2sts, inc) x7 (28) sl st into next 2sts

F/O leaving a short end.

Lattice:
Using Champagne and either embroidery chain st/ crochet chain st create a stripe across
centre of start circle from 1 end of the pumpkin filling to the other.
Then do 2 more stripes approximately ½ way between the centre stripe and the outer
circumference.
Repeat going across the pumpkin filling in the opposite direction.

Pie Base:
Using Champagne
Row 1: ch2, dc 7 into 2nd st from hook (alternatively dc 7sts into magic ring) (7)
Row 2: inc x7 (14)
Row 3: (htr into next st, htrinc) x7 (21) sl st to join
Row 4: BLO Row: (dc into next 2sts, inc) x7 (28)
Row 5: dc (28)
Row 6: htr (28) sl st into FLO of next st

Edging:
Row 7: FLO Row: (htrinc, sl st into next st) x14 (14 shells)

F/O leaving a 30cm end.

Place the pumpkin filling right side up just inside the pie base, so that it sits level with the
3rd loop from last row of pie case prior to adding the shell edge.
Using mattress st attach the pumpkin filling to 3 rd loop below the BLO st, remebering to
stuff the pie about ¾ ‘s of the way round.
Secure end with a couple of small sts and then weave through to side of pie base, just
below the edge.
Secure end with a couple of small sts making sure that you don’t pull the pie out of shape.
Then thread the keychain onto F/O end.
Do 4/5 small back sts to attach the keychain to side of pie casing.
Secure end with a couple of small sts at base of keychain.
Weave end through pie and cut flush to finish.
