Statement of the Problem

The main purpose of this study is to determine the Role of Figurative Language in
Students Reading Comprehension Skills of Grade 7 students in San Francisco Xavier High
School.
Specifically, it sought to answer the following problem:
1. Is there any statistically significant difference in Grade 7 students' literal reading
comprehension level that can be linked to the use of figures of speech in the reading text?

2. Is there any statistically significant difference in Grade 7 students' inferential reading


comprehension level that can be linked to the use of figures of speech in the reading text?

3. Is there any statistically significant difference in Grade 7 students' evaluative reading


comprehension level that can be linked to the use of figures of speech in the reading text?
