01 Work Done
Work is done when an object moves in the direction of the force.

In Joule, Scalar Quantity

01 Work Done
When work is done on a body, energy is transferred to the body. The amount of
work done is a measure of how much energy has been transferred.
01 Work Done - No Work Done
01 Work Done - Negative
Some forces which are always opposite in direction to motion, friction, viscous
force.

The work done is always negative.

02 Energy
Energy is the capacity for doing work. (Scalar Quantity)

• Chemical (fuel, food, batteries)

• Electrical (movement of electrical charges)
• Internal and Thermal (by virtue of the state of a system)
• Radiant (Electromagnet waves)
• Sound
• Mechanical (kinetic due to motion and potential due to position
• Nuclear (Mass-energy conversion)
02 Energy - Conversion

A. When a body drops through viscous liquid

B. When a laptop is on

C. When the wood burns

D. When the cyclist is travelling up a hill

E. When a conductor moves in a magnetic field

F. When a motor rises a load to 2nd storey at constant speed

G. When a girl performs bungee jumping

02 Energy - Kinetic Energy
The kinetic energy of a body is its capacity for doing work due to its motion.

It is defined as equal to the work done on the body to bring it from rest to
speed v.
02 Energy - Potential Energy

GPE is defined as equal to the work done on the body against gravity.
02 Energy - Elastic Potential Energy
03 Power
Power is the work done per unit time.
04 Efficiency
