PERSONAL PLEDGE OF PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOUR BY STUDENT

I, Arise Mthembu acknowledge that I form an integral part of Stadio School of Education and the
school that I attend for my school-based teaching practice. I recognise that my behaviour, actions and
attitude reflect both on me as an individual and as a member of the teaching profession. I know that
my main priority at school is to learn and to succeed academically, as well as to take part in additional
school activities and to grow as a person. As part and as a representative of Stadio, I undertake to:

 Attend school for the required number of teaching days. Days missed must be supported by a
doctor's certificate. Arrange to make up any missed days. Submit any other extenuating
circumstances for consideration to the Module Co-ordinator.
 Attend school punctually and for the full duration of the school day, arriving before the school
day commences and leaving after the school day ends.
 Refrain from any action that might disrupt a class or jeopardise learning, (use of cell
phones/tablets for personal use, disengagement etc.).
 Use every opportunity to learn from my mentor teachers, staff at the school, and fellow students.
 Conduct myself in a manner that upholds the principles of the South African Constitution and
the teaching profession.
 Do my best each day to improve my teaching by observing my mentor teacher's lessons and
assisting my mentor as needed.
 Refrain from attempting to leave the classroom for any reason whatsoever (unless deemed valid
by the teacher) during instruction/teaching time.
 Refrain from any action which discredits the school, me as well as STADIO.
 Make maximum use of the facilities at school and display respect for those facilities.
 Return to school all equipment/property made available to me for my use at the appointed time
and in the same condition in which it was when it was handed to me.
 Be loyal to the school and display loyalty in my behaviour and speech.
 Uphold the traditions and the rules of the school at which I am placed.
 Uphold the qualities of truth, motivation, discipline and hard work.
 Strive to develop emotionally, socially, spiritually and academically in all of the opportunities
that are presented to me during my school-based practicum.
 Be an active member of the school through participation and ensuring that I meet all school
commitments, including academic, sporting, extra-curricular or social commitments.
 Show respect for all people's rights, including the right to equality and dignity.
 Adhere to the Code of Conduct of the school.
 Adhere to the COVID-19 protocols of the school.
 Abide by the SACE Professional Code of Ethics and STADIO Disciplinary Code of Conduct for
Students.
I acknowledge that I have read the contents of the Personal Pledge of Professional Behaviour
and I undertake to comply with the above-mentioned minimum standards. Should I not comply
I will not be deemed to have passed the school-based teaching practicum module and will be
required to repeat this module in the next academic year.
