Assignment No.1: The Importance of Proper and Plumbing And Sanitary Systems in
Architecture

1. Why is proper plumbing and sanitary system important in building and site?

Plumbing and Sanitary system is a very vital section of each structure since it
is considered as the veins of the building, they provide the foundation and circulation for safe
infrastructure. The greatest benefit is public health. A number of infectious diseases are
precursors to open sewage and impure water systems. They're a breeding and feeding
ground for rodents, insects and other carriers of disease. A good sanitation system provides
a clean environment that will avoid the transmission of any disease, especially through the
toilet and drainage. (Supreme Pipe, 2022) Through times with the development of the
plumbing and sanitary system, we were able to control and direct water for their use. That’s
not all, plumbing allowed us to make sure that the clean and dirty water stays separated for
the sake of our health, hygiene and wellbeing. (Platts Plumbing, 2022)

2. Give at least one to two examples of unsanitary or defective plumbing installations.

This can be based on your personal observation, maybe from your home,
community, roadside, public spaces, etc.

Dripping faucets are so common that it's

rare to find someone who hasn't experienced
this issue at home. The leakage can
increase your water bills and cost you money
and even cause further damage to the piping
system. I observe that normally a dripping
faucet is caused by an internal washer that
has become stiff, torn, worn, or dislodged
over time.

Leaky pipes may be more than just a

nuisance for homeowners; they can cause
damage to furniture or floors, and the
dampness encourages bugs such as
cockroaches. Leaks tend to occur in the
joints of the pipes. This type of fixture
problem is commonly seen in the bathroom
and kitchen.
 3. What are your expectations from this subject: Building Utilities: Plumbing and
Sanitary System?

My expectation of this course is to learn in depth knowledge about plumbing

and the sanitary system. As an Architect we must design and construct a structure that is not
only aesthetically pleasing but also needs to be safe for the users. More than learning how
plumbing works I expect to learn and be trained how to assemble, install, maintain and repair
pipes, properly use tools and equipment to fix defective plumbing installation. Furthermore,
aside from theoretical and calculations, I think it is better to have an actual activity whereas
we can perform minor construction works and repairs and maintenance work.
