Over the last decade, the Philippines has changed drastically; with metropolitans having tall and futuristic

buildings, more
cars on the road, and innovations. However, even with all the innovations and such, there is still one thing that has not
improved at all: Poverty. In basic definition, poverty is a state of someone’s life wherein they have no sufficient amount of
needs such as clothes, food, and shelter (Fadrigalan and Gutierrez, 2022). According to (Martinez, Co, Lau and Brown,
2021) Filipinos across the world have general reluctance and unfavourable attitude towards formal help-seeking despite
high rates of psychological distress. In the Philippines, despite attempts to provide universal health care coverage (UHC),
low-income households in the Philippines continue to encounter obstacles to accessing and using health care (Luu, K. et
al., 2022).

Barriers to accessing rehabilitation services in the Philippines go beyond the lack of individual resources (Chiu, Sy, Oruga
and Bonito, 2023). According to the (MU School of Medicine, 2022) Healthcare access is the availability of medical
services to prevent, identify, diagnose, and manage illnesses, diseases, disorders, and other problems that influence
one's health.
