the banner of Islam.

Ans: In Muslims camps, the rumor about the murder of Hazrat Usman (R.A) spread. The Holy

Muslims. He called upon his companions to take a pledge to fight until death to take
revenge of Hazrat Usman’s (R.A) blood. The pledge was taken under a tree on the hand
of Holy Prophet (PBUH). This pledge was known as Bait-e-Rizwan, the pledge of Allah
pleasure.

Ans: Quraish offered Hazrat Usman (R.A) the permission to perform the pilgrim, if he so

(PBUH) is denied of this?”

Ans: When the Quraish heard of the intensions of the Muslims to enter Makkah for
“Umrah”. They prepare to resist their entry by force. Makkans sent Urwa bin Masood
to convince the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to return back to Madinah. Holy Prophet (PBUH)
replied “We did not come to fight”. Urwa went back highly impressed with faithfulness
of Muslims.

Ans: The Quraish leaders deputed Sohail bin Amr, one of their leader to negotiate a treaty
of peace. After his meeting of his Holy Prophet (PBUH) a ten year treaty was
concluded. It included following conditions:
1) Perfomance of Umrah:
Muslims should return this year without performing the pilgrimage.
2) Stay in Makkah:
Muslims many come next year to perform the pilgrimage but shall not
stay in Makkah for more than three days.
3) Visit to Holy city unarmed:
The Muslims shall visit Holy city unarmed. Only swords would be allowed
but that too shall remain in their sheaths.
4) Peace to prevail for 10 years:
Peace between Muslims and Quraish would last for a period of 10 years
during which both parties would live with full security and neither party
would fight the other.

5) Entering into alliance:
Anyone of the Arab times may enter into an alliance or treaty with the
Holy Prophet (PBUH). In the same way, any tribe will be free to ally itself
with Quraish.
6) Anyone of Quraish who flees from Makkans to Madinah:
Anyone of Quraish who flees from Makkah to Madinah shall be returned
to Quraish, but any Muslims who flee to Makkah will not return to the
Muslims.
7) Muslims shall not take back with them the Muslims:
The Muslims shall not take back with them the Muslims living in Makkah
nor shall they stand in the way of anyone from among themselves wishing
to remain in Makkah.
8) Quran declaring treaty as manifest victory:
Allah revealed to Holy Prophet (PBUH) declaring this treaty as the
manifest victory for the Muslims,“ Surely, we have given you a victory a
very clear victory”.

Q # 1: Write a note on the boycott of Hashemite by Quraish (exile of Muslims from Makkah,
ban on all essential items reaching Muslims)?
Ans: Confederacy of Quraish:
Non-believers of Makkah having exhausted all their resources of persecution, Injury
and condemnation of holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) now resorted to boycott him and members
of his noble family Banu Hashim.
Drafting of agreement by Quraish:
In the 7th year of Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) mission all the chiefs of Makkah drafted
an agreement against the Hashemites. Under the agreement the total boycott of
Hashemites was proclaimed, nobody was entitled to have any relations with them
including the sale of foodstuff. The agreement was signed by all the leaders of Makkah and
was hung on the kabah.
Sha’ab of Abu Talib:
Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) along with Abu Talib and his family was compelled to retire
into a scheduled valley of Makkah known as Sha’ab of “Abu Talib”. It followed a period of
great hardships for Banu Hashim and Muslims. The plight of children was particularly
pitiable. This state of affairs continued for 3 years.
End of boycott:
At last, some of the kinds Quraish were deeply moved by the suffering and
hardships of Banu Hashim and took the initiative to the end the social boycott. In addition
Allah revealed to the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) that the earth warms have eaten everything
written in the pact except the name of Allah and when the Quraish leaders found it to be
true they end the social boycott.

Ans: Prophet (P.B.U.H) with 700 men reached the foothill of Uhud on 15th Shawwal. The
Muslims took up the positions upon the Uhud Mountain to protect themselves from
any attack which could come from the rear. Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) appointed 50
archers under the command of Abdullah bin Zubair (R.A).

Ans: Mount of Mercy is situated in Arafat. It is also called Jabl-e-Rehmat Holy Prophet
(P.B.U.H) delivered / gave his last Khutba from the Mount of Mercy.

Ans: Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) clarifies in his last sermon “O people return the goods

Ans: Prophet (P.B.UH) gave Khutba in his last Hajj which is recognized as Khutba Hajjat –
ul – Wida. Its provisions are as follows;
1) Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) commanded the people to return the goods entrusted upon
them to their rightful owners. He said do not wrong anyone and never charge interest
on money. Do not be unjust.
2) He said all past rights of revenge are now abolished.
3) Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said to be aware of the Satan and never allow him to make us
do big or small sins.
4) Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) elaborated to protect the calendar from being tempered by the
unbelievers and observe the holy months. With Allah the months are twelve and four of
them are Holy.
5) Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) said that people have rights over their wives and they have
rights upon them. People have taken them under Allah’s trust.
6) Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) commanded to worship Allah, offer five daily prayers, fast in the
month of Ramzan, give Zakat and perform Hajj if they afford.
7) Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) says no one is superior to anyone neither an Arab to a non-Arab
neither a white to black, except in piety (Taqwa).
8) Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) clearly mentioned that every Muslim is a Muslim’s brother and
no one is entitled to have anything which the other is not willing to give.
9) Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) clarified his status of finality of his prophecy and the finality of
religion of Islam. He said people need to follow Quran and Sunnah as their Ultimate
guidance and success.
10) He concluded his sermon by commanding the present to convey his words to the
absent.

Q # 1: WHY THERE IS IMPORTANCE OF BATTLE OF Trench in the history of Islam?
Ans: Battle of Trench was the last combined military attack on the Muslims at Madinah. It
was a turning point in the long drawn struggle between Muslims and Quraish.
Therefore, a peace treaty with Muslims at Hudaibiyah
Q # 2: How did Holy Quran describe the incident? Give the reference of the Quranic verse?
Ans: Holy Quran mentions this incident as, “O believers! Remember Allah’s favours upon
you when some armies pounced on you. Then we sent on them a strong wind
(hurricane) and an army (of angels) which you did not see. And Allah observes your
deeds”.
Q # 3: What happened to the confederate forces? Was it truly the plan of divine?
Ans: Allah sent a severe windstorm to the confederate forces as well as His angels to the
area where the pagans were camped. The wind blew down their tents and cooking
gear.

Ans: Quraish assembled a large force of 10,000 soldiers consisting of different, under
command of Abu Sufiyan. Army consisted of four thousands well armed foot soldiers,

soldiers.

five yards broad was dug. The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) himself demarcated the sight
3000 sacred hands completed the trench in 20 days.

Ans: The Jews of Banu Nadeer were punished and exiled from Madinah by the Holy Prophet

Ghatafan and Banu Sulaiym.

Ans: Some of the tribes of confederates’ forces which were settled outside Madinah were

Ans: The trench proved to be a decisive factor. It kept the army of the Quraish in check and
mollified their superiority of number. The long siege ran the allies short of supplies and
as a result they became worried of their struggle

conspiracies of Quraish?
Ans: The failure of Quraish in the battle of Trench proved to be decisive. The trade with
Syria ended and their position with / in northern Arabia was damaged beyond repair.
As they realized the rising power of Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) the Muslims in Madinah.
They signed a peace treaty with Muslims at Hudaibiyah.

Q No 1: Write a note on “Importance of Battle of Quraish, upheaval of Muslims status, and
sign of peace treaty. {Or} What Events took place during the battle of Trench?
Elaborate.
Ans: The battle of Trench was fought in 627 A.D. The Quraish began preparations for a
greater attack on Madinah. They assembled a large force.
1) Assemblage of Force:-
The army of Quraish consisted of 10,000 soldiers consisting of different tribes under the
command of Abu Sufiyan. There were 4000 well armed foot-soldiers, 3000 horsemen in
full armour, 1500 camels loaded with provision, 1000 camel-riding soldiers.
2) Consultation of Prophet (P.B.U.H) with companions:-
As Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) was informed of its departure, he consulted his
companions. In the counsel he appreciated the opinion of Hazrat Salman Farsi (R.A)
who suggested digging a trench around the city of Madinah.
3) Construction of Trench:-
On the three sides of the city of Madinah there were houses, orchards, Oasis
which served as a Fortification only one side was unprotected, A trench, Five yards
deep and five yards broad was dug. The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) himself demarcated the
site and 3000 sacred hands completed the trench in 20 days.
4) Astonishment of Quraish:-
Allied forces were confident of an easy and quick victory but they come to an
abrupt halt when they found a deep long trench between them and the city. The
trench was quite unfamiliar to the Makkans and their allies Muslims confined them
outside the Madinah by throwing / hurling stones and arrows at them. Hence, the siege
of Madinah lasted for about 30 days.
5) Circumstances / Results Borne by the Confederates:-
Arabs were not accustomed to such a long drawn war. Their supplies began to
run short. Moreover the icy cold winds added insult to injury because of weather
conditions a lot of Quraish’s camels and horses died. Strong Mighty windstorm blew
down their tents. As a result they hurriedly left leaving behind all their possessions /
Commodities.

Ans: In Madinah Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) was accepted as the arbitrator by both the Jews and

abundance of these animals. He gave the man so many that they filled the space
between the two hills.

time, he always helped his servants in their duties.

Ans: Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) was titled as Al-Amin (trustworthy) in Makkah. When he was
about to migrate to Madinah he was conscious of all the trusts (kept by the unbelievers
with him). Therefore, he asked Hazrat Ali (R.A) to stay at Makkah until all the trusts
were returned to the owners.
