Inglenook Creche Board of Directors is currently recruiting a Board Member for the following position:

Treasurer
Term: 2-4 years of service
Commitment: Ability to participate in monthly meetings (2-4 hours/mth) and provide at minimum 1 hour of time
per week to assist with general Board affairs.
Description:
A Director in the Treasurer position works closely with other Directors, the Supervisor, Bookkeeper and
Accountant as well as liaises with the Bank Representative and other members of the Corporation as required.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 2 years experience working in a financial services position or as a
treasurer. A successful candidate will continue to help develop the role of the Treasurer within the organization.
Qualifications:
● Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, financial services or other related
experience. Priority will be given to individuals demonstrating experience.
● Experience in a leadership or management position
● Proficient in the use of Excel, Word, Accounting Software and Online Banking
● Excellent communication skills and teamwork
● Experience with policy making and implementation
● Ability to plan, organize, implement and monitor developments within the organization
● Knowledge of not-for-profit governance, structure, organization and operation is an asset
● Knowledge of daycare operations within Ontario is considered an asset
● Knowledge of the Childcare and Early Years Act is an asset, but not required; competency demonstrated
by completing the CCEYA Self Test is recommended.
Responsibilities:

● Manages and oversees financial affairs of the Daycare


● Presents monthly financial reports and provides financial insight at monthly meetings; with assistance of
Bookkeeper
● Attends monthly meetings with the Board of Directors to discuss and vote on organizational affairs
● Holds voting power on affairs concerning the Board and operation of the Daycare
● Develop and implement financial policies and procedures
● Develop budgets, monitor expenditures, provides financial forecasting and assumes fiscal accountability
for the cooperative
● Monitors and helps set monthly budgets in coordination with the Supervisor
● Assists with ensuring appropriate and responsible utilization of parent fees, government grants and other
revenue
● Works with other Directors on fundraising opportunities and assists with applying for grants
● Assists with setting goals and objectives for the organization, monitoring development/progress
● Presents and reviews financial statements/standing at Annual General Meeting
● Holds signing authority with the bank
● Assists with recruiting new Board Members ensuring competence
