Health Education is a strategy that healthcare professionals and educators use to promote health

to their clients and the community. It mainly educates individuals to have a better knowledge about their
health and for clients to actively participate in the caring relationship so that they can recover effectively
from their illness. To better facilitate the education of health to the clients, it is not enough for the
educators to only have adequate knowledge of health, they also need to provide scientific explanations
or evidence to better promote care of health to the clients. Evidence-based practices are necessary to
have effective health education among individuals. Evidence-based practice is acknowledged as a
foundational element of healthcare professional education. The best available research findings, clinical
knowledge, the patient's unique values and circumstances, and the features of the practice in which the
health professional works are now all incorporated into EBP.

The article that I have chosen about evidence-based practices related to health education is an
article about Implementing Evidence-Based Practices in Routine Mental Health Service Settings. Mental
health is a serious medical concern that is often referred to by society as a stigma or something that is
not normal to talk about in everyday settings. According to the article, practices that are supported by
scientific data consistently demonstrate improved client outcomes are known as evidence-based
practices. The authors pointed out that some evidence-based practices related to the effectiveness of
mental health services programs are not reliable to help a patient suffering from mental health-related
illnesses; the effectiveness is still unknown, subject to further examination and improvements. However,
evidence-based practices are still essential in proving the rationale of their research. It is stated in the
article that, being realistic about the evidence's limitations is the main tactic in defining evidence-based
approaches. As I have scanned through books and trusted educational websites, I have learned that EBP
process has 5 steps; ask, access, appraise, apply, and assess. There are the basic steps that educators
should do in order to attain an effective EBP in healthcare settings. Despite the advantageous benefits of
EBP, the article states that not all EBP can be applicable to all patients. EBP has its limitations and this is
what the article is trying to resolve. In order to effectively facilitate EBP for patients suffering from
mental health illness, healthcare providers need to understand the limitations of EBP. The standards for
scientific evidence that different groups utilize can occasionally differ, but generally speaking, the highest
level in many randomized clinical studies contrasting the practice with alternatives or with no
intervention. The data shows that the evidence-based approach is superior to the alternatives, including
no intervention, when the many trials are analyzed together, such as through a meta-analysis.

In conclusion, evidence-based practice in health promotion is still vital in the effective delivery of
care in healthcare settings. Despite the limitations that it may present in some areas of health-related
concerns, it is still important to integrate EBP in every delivery of care, as much as possible. EBP is still
essential since it tries to give patients the best care possible in order to improve their results. Based on
the finest current research, patients anticipate receiving the most effective care. EBP is a continuous
practice of research and implementation; it is not concrete, it is dynamic. Improvements are made every
now and then, thus, the effectiveness of care for the client is enhanced.
