Objectives must be met over the week and connected to the curriculum standards. To meet the
objectives, necessary procedures must be followed and if needed, additional lessons, exercises and
remedial activities may be done for developing content knowledge and competencies. These are
I. OBJECTIVES assessed using Formative Assessment Strategies. Valuing objectives support the learning of content
and competencies and enable children to find significance and joy in learning the lessons. Weekly
objectives shall be derived from the curriculum guides.
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of conic sections and
systems of non-linear equations.
B. Performance Standards The learner shall be able to model situations appropriately and solve problems
accurately using conic sections and systems of non-linear equations.
Learning Competency: defines an ellipse (STEM_PC11AG-Ic-1)
determines the standard form of equation of an ellipse
(STEM_PC11AG-Ic-2)
C. Learning Competencies/
Learning Objectives:
Objectives
1. Identify the coordinates of the parts of an ellipse.
2. Give the equation of an ellipse in standard form.
3. Demonstrate cooperation in a group activity.
II. CONTENT Analytic Geometry
III. LEARNING RESOURCES teacher’s guide, learner’s module
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide
2. Learner’s Materials 33-40
3. Textbook pages
4. Additional Materials from
Learning Resource (LR) portal
B. Other Learning Resources
These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that
pupils/students will learn well. Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the pupils/
students which you can infer from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by
IV. PROCEDURES providing pupils/students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice the learning, question
their learning processes, and draw conclusions about what they learned in relation to their life
experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.
For the review of the previous lesson, cabbage relay will be used. As the
cabbage is relayed., they will sing a short song and when it ends, the students
who holds it last will be the one to answer a question from the cabbage.
A. Review previous lesson or
The following are the questions:
presenting the new lesson
What is the part of an ellipse which are considered to have a constant value?
Is an ellipse is a circle?
What is the standard form of the equation of an ellipse?
B. Establishing a purpose for the
lesson
C. Presenting examples/ instances Divide the class into 6. Each of the 2 groups will be given the same item to
of the new lesson answer.
For Groups 1 & 2: Given x 2/8 + y2/4 = 1; give the coordinates of the center, foci,
vertices and covertices of this ellipse.
Groups 3 & 4: Determine the equation of the ellipse given center at (-3,-7);
vertical major axis of length 20, minor axis of length 12.
Groups 5 & 6: Foci at (-3,-6) and (-3, 2) for any point on the ellipse. The sum of
its distance from the foci is 14. Find the standard equation of the ellipse.
The items given to the groups will be checked through a report from the group
D. Discussing new concepts and
and a supplemental discussion will be given by the teacher whenever there are
practicing new skills
things in the report that needs to be clarified.
E. Developing mastery
This problem will be for all the 6 groups to answer. The moon's orbit is an
ellipse with Earth as one focus. If the maximum distance from the moon to
Earth is 405 500 km and the minimum distance is363 300 km, find the equation
F. Finding practical applications of
of the ellipse in a Cartesian coordinate system where Earth is at the origin.
concepts and skills in daily living
Assume that the ellipse has horizontal major axis and that the minimum
distance is achieved when the moon is to the right of Earth. Use 100 km as one
unit.
G. Making generalizations and
abstractions about the lesson
Individual work: Answer the following.
1) Given x2/4 + y2/25 = 1; identify the center, foci, vertex and covertex
H. Evaluating Learning
2) Find the standard equation of ellipse when foci is at ( -21,10) and (3,10) for
any point on the ellipse. The sum of the distance from the foci is 6.

remediation
V. REMARKS
Reflect on your teaching and assess yourself as a teacher. Think about your students’ progress. What
works? What else needs to be done to help the pupils/students learn? Identify what help your
VI. REFLECTION instructional supervisors can provide for you so when you meet them, you can ask them relevant
questions.
A. No. of learners who earned 80% of
the evaluation
B. No. of learners who require additional
activities for remediation who scored
below 80%
C. Did the remedial lesson work? No. of
learners who have caught up with the
lesson.
D. No. of learners who continue to require
remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked
well? Why did these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my
principal or supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did
I use/ discover which I wish to share with
other teachers
