1. Introduction

Ø Plan and development commission:-

2. 10th Structural Plan of Addis Ababa

Ø Until 2017 about 9 city wide plans (Master


plans and Structural plans)
Ø The 10th structure Plan is approved in 2017,
Ø principles:-
• Intensive uses of land and space;
• Decentralization of urban activities;
• Promotion of mixed/compatible land use;
• Integration of different components along
activity spine/mass transport lines
• Increased foresight and practicality of
plan.

Ø Vertical expansion principle of city development and

polycentric organization connected with high density

corridors.

Ø Basic services and major facilities are organized at the

central area.

Ø Transport, housing, social and economic sphere are

focus areas of the new structure plan.

Ø Every physical development will be located within walking

distance accessible to the mass transport line.

Ø Transport as an organizing element.

v Gives due consideration to the TOD concept within its proposals.

Ø High density mixed residence along
the mass transport routes:-
• Depth of 80m to 120m from main
transport lines
• At least 40% residence share and with
minimum of 150hu/ha.
• Greater mix of uses to reduce travel
distances and the cost of travel
o Residents can live close to work and
services
Ø Polycentric urban development and
decentralization of activities

buildings.
§ Giving access to all stations of mass
transit
§ Platform that accommodates the
regional bus terminal and a mall.
§ Proposes building height with min FAR
5 and max height of G+19.
