Concept Notes:
1. Anthropology - It is the study of ancient societies and their culture and traditions. In studying culture,
anthropologists investigate the people’s language, their values, technologies, and even how they group
themselves.
Two Broad Fields of Anthropology:
Physical Anthropology
Cultural Anthropology

2. Economics - It is the study of the efficient allocation of scarce resources in order to satisfy unlimited
human needs and wants.

3. Geography - It studies the interaction between the natural environment and the people living in it. It acts
as a bridge between natural science and social science. This social science discipline studies where things
are on Earth, explain why they are there, and their relationships to other people, places, and things.

4. History - It is the study of recorded past.

5. Linguistics- It studies the nature of language through an examination of the formal properties of natural
language, grammar, and the process of language acquisition.

6. Political Science - It is the study of politics, power, and government.

7. Psychology - It is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes.

8. Sociology- It is the systematic study of human society. It also studies how people relate to each other
and how they work as a whole in the larger society.
9. Demography - It is the study of human population. It also studies how people move from place to place.
