PRE-SERVICE TEACHER

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. Identifies the various types of speech context using a table.
b. Explain the value of verbal and nonverbal behavior in speech context through an
essay
c. Exhibit appropriate verbal and nonverbal behavior in a given speech context
through a comic strip

ACTIVATE Prior Knowledge
1. Activity (Motivation)

Charades Game
Mechanics:
● The teacher will divide the class into 2 groups.
● Each group will have 1 representative.
● The group representatives will have to act out the secret word
given by the teacher without speaking to the rest of their group
members.
● The group members will then have to guess the secret word.
● The group who gets the answer first wins the game.

Secret Word: Speech

After the game, the teacher will ask the students about their experience
about the charades game.

Guide Questions:
1. What have you felt while trying to communicate with your
nonverbally?
2. What’s going on in your mind while playing the game?

Lesson proper
The teacher will introduce the lesson about speech context trough asking the
students a question before explaining the topic (Socratic method). After which the
teacher will process and relate the ideas of the students to the lesson. The teacher
will ask further supplementary question if necessary.
Types of speech context
1.Intrapersonal- this refers to a type of communication that is focused on one
person, where the speaker acts both as the sender and the receiver.
2.Interpersonal- this refers to the type of communication that takes place between
and among the people and creates a personal relationship between and among
them.

3. Public- this type refers to a communication that enables you to send or deliver a
message before a crowd
4. Mass Communication- this type refers to communication through television,
radio, newspapers, magazines, books, and other type of media.
Verbal and non-verbal Behavior in Speech Act
