Dependent and Independent Clause

Independent Clause
An independent clause is a group of words that contains a
subject and verb and expresses a complete thought. An
independent clause is a sentence.
Example:
1. Jim studied in the Sweet Shop for his chemistry quiz.
2. Jun weites a poem.
3. The woman cooks the food.

Dependent Clause
A dependent clause is a group of words that contains a
subject and verb but does not express a complete thought.
A dependent clause cannot be a sentence. Often a
dependent clause is marked by a dependent marker word.
Example:
1. When Jim studied in the Sweet Shop for his chemistry
quiz . . . (What happened when he studied? The thought is
incomplete.)
2. How many times i did ...( what is the thing he did many
time? ) the thought is incomplete..
3. When I'm gone...( what happened next when I'm
gone?..) still it has no sense
Note: In constructing sentences, you should consider the
grammar so that the people whom you are communicate
can understand the message . In a certain business
fluency in speaking must be consider too.

as a complete sentence: She cries when I arrive.
