MODULE 1: ACTIVITY 1

A. Based on the video clips, what did you learn about social innovation?

Social innovation involves altering the fundamental attitudes and relationships that shape the
world, not merely creating new goods and services. Making a new phone is one thing, but
changing a person, a neighborhood, or an entire institution is quite another.

After viewing the two video clips, I saw that many people in those places suffer from extreme
poverty as a result of a lack of innovation, and I felt that there were certain existing traits,
circumstances, and conditions that might be utilized to compare it to the current civilization.
There are several attempts being made in society to undermine its value and relevance to
everyone. A lot of realizations and learning have been developing in my mind, and I am
proud of every designer since they offer not only the money but also their lives to show that
they care so they must call indeed an agent of change. For me, the mist and the life of the
Filipino people in the disaster relief clip is the representation of a great problem that will
cover up its entire function.

I also learned that social innovation is a great way to come up with fresh approaches to some
of the most pressing problems in the world, like Kubo the disaster relief house, fair trade,
social power structures, resources, etc. Social innovation provides a rare opportunity to step
back from a constrained perspective on social enterprises, business engagement, and
philanthropy and to recognize new opportunities. I was moved by the people's solidarity and
the relationship between the designers and the people after watching the two clips, reflecting,
and learning about social innovation. I can see the essence of solidarity because there is a
deep faith in their companions, in their ability to band together and link arms, in their
capacity to transform opportunities out of risks, and to create responsibilities out of difficult
situations.
