DIRECTION: You choose from the episodes shown on any documentaries you viewed which
portrayed forms of community engagement in attaining community development through
solidarity among the members in the particular place.The following are the steps for your
documentary film analysis:
They explaining how small sachets and other garbage can be recycle therefore they conducted this
cleanup drive not by just cleaning and by also recycling garbages such as cans, plastic bottles, and etc.

POVERTY ALLEVIATION
PICTURE ANALYSIS
DIRECTION: From the pictures presented, create a narration on how the government plays an
important role in poverty alleviation. Explain in four to five sentences.
The government plays a crucial role in poverty alleviation and the protection of human rights. One of the primary
ways it does this is through spending taxes collected from citizens and businesses. This money is used to fund
programs and initiatives that provide support to those in need, such as food assistance, housing, education, and
healthcare.

There are many programs and initiatives that are sustained or developed by the government to
address poverty and alleviate its effects. Some examples of these programs include:
1.Social welfare programs: These programs provide financial assistance and support to low-
income individuals and families. Examples include welfare, food stamps, and housing assistance.
2.Education and training programs: These programs provide access to education and training
opportunities to help individuals acquire the skills and knowledge needed to secure employment
and improve their economic status.
3.Healthcare programs: These programs provide access to affordable healthcare services to low-
income individuals and families. Examples include Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance
Program (CHIP).
4.Job training and employment programs: These programs provide job training and employment
opportunities to individuals who are struggling to find work. Examples include the Workforce
Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program.
5.Community development programs: These programs aim to improve living conditions and
promote economic development in disadvantaged communities. Examples include the
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and the Neighborhood Revitalization
Initiative (NRI).
6.Agricultural programs: These programs provide support to small farmers and rural
communities to help them improve their livelihoods and increase their income. Examples include
the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) and the Farm Service Agency (FSA).
There are several government agencies that are responsible for implementing poverty alleviation
programs and initiatives. These agencies include:
1.The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS): This department is responsible for
implementing programs and initiatives related to healthcare, social services, and income
assistance. Examples include Medicaid, CHIP, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance
Program (SNAP).
2.The Department of Labor (DOL): This department is responsible for implementing programs
and initiatives related to employment, job training, and workforce development. Examples
include WIOA, TAA, and the Unemployment Insurance (UI) program.
3.The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD): This department is responsible
for implementing programs and initiatives related to housing, community development, and
urban renewal. Examples include the CDBG program, the NRI, and the Section 8 Housing
Choice Voucher program.
4.The Department of Agriculture (USDA): This department is responsible for implementing
programs and initiatives related to agriculture, rural development, and food assistance. Examples
include ACEP, FSA, and the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
5.The Department of Education (ED): This department is responsible for implementing programs
and initiatives related to education, training, and student financial aid. Examples include the Pell
Grant program, the Federal Work-Study program, and the Perkins Loan program.
Overall, these agencies work together to implement and oversee various poverty alleviation
programs and initiatives, ensuring that they are effective and reaching those in need.

DIRECTION : Write a short caption about the pictures below which shows efforts done by the
government in addressing problems encountered in some of the communities in the country.
PROCESSING QUESTIONS:
1. Which labor status showed the highest data? Lowest data?
It shows that the highest labor status is employed with the percent of 80 while the lowest labor status
is the unemployed with the percent of almost 20 .
3. How should government address the present scenario in terms of our labor force?
Government investment in the country's infrastructure (building of new motorways, schools,
hospitals etc.) leads to an increase in the number of workers employed in the construction industry.
Improved infrastructure encourages other businesses to operate here, increasing employment.
4. Does Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-Asa Program will deliberately address to the employment
status of every Filipinos? How and why?
The Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa Program aims to provide hope for a better future to Filipinos
through equity in resources throughout the country that will boost countryside development. It is
focused on addressing problems with congestion in urban areas. It prioritizes the informal settlers
and provides support and incentives for them including transportation, livelihood, housing,
education, cash assistance, and more.
ASSIGNMENT/ ADDITIONAL ACTIVITY
BARANGAY KO, BIDA KO PROMODIRECTION: Make a promotional story of your own
barangay, a people or an organization from your barangay who or which promoted
solidarity in helping fight against poverty and sustained the efforts of national and global
community development. It could be in a written or in a poster way of promoting their special
story. You may upload in your fb account the captured pictures of story or poster. (For those who
could not access the Internet submit hard copies.)
Barangay Cogon in Tuburan, Cebu is a community that is rich in culture and traditions. It is a place where
people are known for their hardworking and hospitable nature. Despite facing challenges such as poverty, the
people of Barangay Cogon have always stood united in their efforts to fight against it and promote sustainable
community development.
One organization that has played a crucial role in this mission is the Barangay Cogon Development
Association (BCDA). Founded by a group of passionate and dedicated community leaders, the BCDA has
been working tirelessly to improve the lives of the people in Barangay Cogon.
The BCDA has implemented various programs and initiatives to help the community overcome poverty and
build a better future. These include livelihood training and skills development programs, as well as
community-based health and education initiatives. The BCDA has also worked closely with national and
global organizations to bring much-needed resources and support to the community.
One of the BCDA's most successful projects has been the establishment of a community-based microfinance
system. This initiative has helped small business owners and entrepreneurs access affordable loans, enabling
them to grow and expand their businesses. The microfinance system has been a huge success, with many
people in Barangay Cogon now able to provide for their families and contribute to the development of their
community.
The BCDA's efforts have not gone unnoticed. The organization has received numerous accolades and
recognition from both local and national authorities for their outstanding work in promoting solidarity and
community development.
Through the tireless efforts of the BCDA and the people of Barangay Cogon, the community has made great
strides in overcoming poverty and building a brighter future. Their inspiring story is a testament to the power
of solidarity and determination in the face of adversity. So, the BCDA invites everyone to join hands with
them in their mission to create a better future for the people of Barangay Cogon.
