CAREER PROGRAM OBSERVATION GUIDELINES

The Career Program Observation (CPO) placement allows you the opportunity to visit a
career class as you prepare for your academic and career goals. We are grateful for your
participation as well as our instructors and your fellow learners who are welcoming you into
their classes.

As a learner at Bow Valley College, you are expected to comply with the Learner Code of
Conduct. Bow Valley College is committed to establishing and sustaining a positive and
dynamic learning and working environment within our community. Actions of all members
of our College community are expected to exemplify our values of excellence, learning
centered, accountability, concern for people, integrity, respect for diversity, teamwork, and
trust.

BASIC ETIQUETTE WHEN VISITING A CLASSROOM

Etiquette means social rules that everyone should follow. For example, it is etiquette to turn
off your phone in a movie theatre. Here are the etiquettes for visiting a classroom:

 Be sure to arrive to the class at least 5-10 minutes early.

 Be professional and pay attention. Do not have side chats when you are in your
classroom.
 Turn off your phone while you are in class.
 When course material is being shared during your observation, do not share this
information with others outside of the class. Do not share information about exam
material. The Academic Honesty Policy is in effect.
 You do not need to agree with each other, but you need to be respectful towards each
other.

Learners are responsible for knowing, understanding, and complying with Bow Valley
College policies and procedure at the College. Non-compliance may create risk and will be
addressed accordingly with reference to disciplinary measures considered in the Code of
Conduct.
