Closing: Let us try to remember what these three monkeys have taught us and let us practice seeing no
evil, speaking no evil and hearing no evil.
The second monkey closes his mouth to teach Speak No Evil. Ask the students what they think this
means. (Do not gossip or tell lies about people, do not use bad words, do not speak meanly.) For
example, even when we get angry we should not use hurtful words or gaali. Because we can hurt people
with our words and our lies. Can you give me some other examples of how we can speak no evil?
The third monkey closes his ears to teach Hear no Evil. Ask the students what they think this means.
(This monkey teaches us not listen to lies or gossip about situations. And also not to listen to friends
who make us want to do wrong things.) Can you think of some examples of how we can hear no evil?

piece of paper and markers or crayons. Ask them to write their partner’s name on the paper. Now ask
each student to write three good things about their partner. It can be a character strength, something
they are good at, or anything else positive about their partner. After they are done, collect the pieces of
paper and put them up around the room.
Closing: We can say Gandhiji’s three monkeys teach us to be positive and try to bring good thoughts and
habits in our lives. Let us remember the lessons of these three very wise monkeys.
LESSON PLAN
Review Game: We are going to play a game. I have a ball that I will throw to someone, but first I have to
say their name. That person will say something they learned about Ganndhiji. Then they will say another
person’s name and throw the ball to them. That person will then say one thing they learned about
Gandhiji. Play this until all the major concepts get reviewed.
Closing: Tell the kids that throughout the year, we will continue to listen to stories about Gandh Bapu.
Pass out a Gandhiji worksheet to each of the students and pass out markers/color pencils/crayons. Tell
the students that on this paper, we will first write the date of Gandhiji’s birth. Does anybody know?
(October 2, 1860). Do you know where he was born? (Porbandar, Gujarat). Now let us write the date of
his death. (January 30, 1948).Do you know where he passed away? (New Delhi, India).
Now I want you to write 5 things anywhere on this paper that you learned about Gandhiji or from the
stories of Gandhiji. After you finish writing the five things, and if we still have time, you can color your
drawing.
Closing: Ask a few of the students to share one thing they learned about Gandhiji. Collect the
worksheets from the students and put up around the room.
