ChatDOC helps you acquire knowledge in a simple, productive way: upload a file,
and chat with them in natural language! With the original document on the left and
the chatbox on the right, you can ask ChatDOC to summarize, extract, locate
information, rewrite paragraphs, and conduct analysis.
To get the most out of ChatDOC, there are a few things you should know:

💬 4 ways to make queries

• Try our Suggested Queries: ChatDOC automatically generates 5 highly
relevant questions based on the file content. You can click on the questions you're
interested in and get instant responses. By clicking the lightbulb button on the right
side of the input box, you can always access these 5 questions.

• Ask About Full Text: Simply enter your questions and hit “Enter”.
• Ask About Selected Text: Highlight the text/tables, click the button next to it,
enter your instructions, and ChatDOC will explain, analyze, or summarize them for
you.

• Query across multi-doc: Upload a folder of files and chat with them! Each file
collection is a customized database, and you can acquire knowledge effortlessly
through conversation.
💬 2 ways to dive deeper
• Start a Thread: Click the “Follow up” button at the bottom right of ChatDOC's
answer to start a thread. In the thread, ChatDOC can retain all previous context from
the dialogue block, allowing you to ask follow-up questions until you receive
satisfactory answers.

• Cite the Same Quote: Click the “ChatDOC” button at the bottom right of your
quotation to quickly requote the same content and make a new query.
💬 Make AI interpretation trustworthy
• Check references: In ChatDOC's response, all cited information is given a
source. Click on the page number/footnotes, and you can trace back to the original
tables / paragraphs, making fact-checking more convenient.

• Adjust stickiness: When ask follow-up questions in a thread, you can switch
between two modes of response according to your needs: One is let the chatbot stick
to the document, making the answer more grounded but less creative. Another is "go
freely", letting ChatDOC cite information outside the document to generate answers.
⛽ Write Better Prompts
To get the best out of ChatDOC, we suggest improving the prompts you use. The
more precise your prompts, the better ChatDOC's answers will be. Need help with

🌟 Summarize

With bullet point

You can ask ChatDOC to "Tell me (key point1, key point2, key point3) in turn. Use
bullet points to organize the answer, and each part should be subdivided into multiple
sub-contents. For example: - Key point 1 - here is the xxx content. - sub content - sub
content - Key point 2 - here is the xxx content - sub content - sub content"
e.g.
1. Please tell me the introduction, literature review, theoretical framework,
innovations, research methods, research process, main viewpoints and conclusions,
and further research directions of this article in turn.
2. Please use bullet points to organize your answer. Each part of the answer should
be subdivided into multiple sub-contents. For example: - Introduction - here is the
introduction content. - sub content - sub content - Literature review - here is the
literature review content - sub content - sub content
You can even go further: copy the answer to a mindmap app, and generate a
structured outline.

With table
You can ask ChatDOC to "Summarize xxx with markdown table format."
e.g.
1. Summarize the key financial indicators and its change rate over the past two
years with markdown table format.
2. Based on the table, please gives interpretation. For example, which financial
change deserves our attention and why? Is Apple a competitive company in its

You can select texts and tables, then ask ChatDOC to "Calculate xxxx and analyze
xxxx."

👩🔬 Student and Researcher: Digest research paper

As a graduate student, I use ChatDOC to probe some academic papers in
anthropology and philosophy. I usually start by asking a general outline and
argument of the paper, then based on my research needs, I will question the article
with increasingly specific questions.
For instance, I asked "Does the article seem to say two contradictory statements
about affordances being objective and relational at the same time? Explain."
ChatDOC managed to explain the apparent contradiction well.
I pushed further by asking a longer question: "Would it be correct to conclude that
there are two kinds of affordances: (a) affordances that are identical to certain
inherent properties of an object; and (b) affordances that are not identical to some
inherent properties of an object, but are based on some of those properties in relation
to the way that an agent perceives them?" ChatDOC managed to answer in the
affirmative and explain itself.
I prompted it to ask one critical question about the article. When it came out with a
question, I resupplied the question as a prompt, and it managed to give a complex
answer. Fascinating.

❓Common Questions

1. What is "token"? Why do I get a "token limit

exceeded"?
TOKEN: You can think of tokens as pieces of words used for natural language
processing. For English text, 1 token is approximately 4 characters or 0.75 words.
For Chinese, 1 token is approximately 0.5 character.
TOKEN LIMIT EXCEEDED: To prevent abuse, we've set a HARD token limit and a
SOFT token limit on the files you upload.
• HARD LIMIT: no page in your file can contain more than 14,000 tokens.
• SOFT LIMIT: only 10 pages in your file can contain more than 10,000 tokens.

2. How to add a new website to the website whitelist?

3. How to ask questions about specific content?

Select the tables or texts, click the “ChatDOC” button next to it, enter your questions,
and ChatDOC will explain, analyze, or summarize this selected content for you.
PS. Asking questions about “Page N” of the PDF is not supported.

4. Everything you want to know about ChatDOC PRO

4.1 Does ChatDOC have a free version?

Yes, you can sign up for a free ChatDOC account. In the free plan, you can upload
up to 2 files per 24hrs and 20 files in total with a limit of 20 pages per file at most. To
enjoy more features and benefits, we sincerely recommend you to upgrade to
ChatDOC Pro.

4.2 What can I benefit from Pro Plan?

Compared to the free version, with Pro Plan, you have more flexible upload limits and
capacity to boost your file reading:
• Upload More: 300 files / 30 days
• Upload Larger File: 500 pages / file. If you need more, you can purchase page
packages to upload up to 3000-page files.
• Ask More: 300 questions / 24 hours
• .doc/docx, markdown, epub, txt files support: 300k tokens / file
• OCR (for scanned pages) support: 500 OCR pages / 30 days
• Multi-Doc Chat: Upload 30 files into one collection at most, and chat with all the
files or the partial files simultaneously.

4.3 Is there any special pricing for Pro Plan now?

YES!
• If you open auto-renewal, then it’ll be early-bird price $5.99 for 30 days. The
original price is $7.99 for 30 days.
• Annual Pro Plan：$59.9 for 360 days, enjoy early-bird price and save 2-
month pro fees.
4.4 Which payment methods do you support?
Now we accept Visa, PayPal, Ali Pay and WeChat Pay.

4.5 What if the current Pro Plan is still not enough to meet
my needs?
Option 1:
You can choose to add an extra package beyond the pro plan catering to your
greater needs. The extra package includes:
• File package: $0.29/per file, valid within 90 days.
• Page package: $0.06/per page, valid within 90 days.
Once purchased, the file/page will remain valid no matter what your ChatDOC plan is,
until it expires.
Option 2:
We’re offering API services for an early-bird price as below:
• Document Pages: $6 per 1000 pages
• Questions: $8 per 1000 questions
• Document Pages & Questions: $14 per package (1 package contains 1000
document pages and 1000 questions.)

4.6 How can I renew my subscription?

Now we support PayPal auto-renewal.
1⃣Click "Subscription" in the dropdown menu under your ChatDOC avatar.

2⃣Click "Subscribe", then you will automatically renew the subscription to

continuously enjoy our value-added service.

4.7 Why was I charged again in my current billing period

after subscribing for auto-renewal?
If you enable auto-renewal for your existing PayPal Pro subscription, you will be
charged for the next billing period to complete the renewal service signing. This
charge extends your current subscription for an additional 30 days.
If you prefer not to be charged in advance, you can refer to the "How can I request a
refund?". You can subscribe again after your current billing period expires.

4.8 How do I cancel my subscription?

We understand that some users might be dissatisfied with ChatDOC Pro. In such
cases, we encourage you to provide feedback and cancel your plan if necessary.

2⃣Click "Unsubscribe".

3⃣Click "OK" in the pop-up window, then your cancellation will take effect at the end
of the current billing cycle.
To avoid being charged for your next billing period, please cancel your subscription at
least 24 hours before your next billing date.

4.9 How can I request a refund?

You are eligible to request a refund within 7 days of purchase. We know that
occasionally a product may not meet your expectations, and we're here to help. If
you want to receive a refund, please send the following information:
• The email address used for registering and purchasing ChatDOC Pro plan.
• Screenshots of the payment channel used for purchasing ChatDOC Pro plan,
such as PayPal or Alipay payment screenshots.
• Please ensure that your refund request is made within 7 days of your
purchase and that you have not used the ChatDOC Pro plan.
• Any extra relevant information.

4.10 Why is my ChatDOC Pro subscription not appearing?

Some users have reported paying for Pro but do not see their new subscription
appear in ChatDOC. We are aware of this issue and are working to ensure all
affected accounts are restored to the correct state.

4.11 Why did my subscription purchase/renewal

transaction fail?
Try these troubleshooting steps to resolve your payment issue:
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies, then try the transaction again.
- If the problem persists, contact your bank to check if there is an issue with your
account or if they are blocking the transaction for security reasons.

4.12 Why was my credit card declined?

If your credit card is declined while paying for subscription, please double-check your
card information, ensure you have sufficient funds, and verify your billing address.
Any incorrect information can lead to a declined transaction. If your issue persists, try
using an alternate payment method or contact your bank or card provider to
understand how the transaction can be completed.

4.13 Where can I find my invoice?

The current version doesn't support downloading invoices for the time being. Users
who subscribe in this version can download the invoice for this subscription in the
next release.

5. Does ChatDOC provide API service?
