It is general that social media has a lot of positive effects on our lives. One of the main points
that social media has granted people to create a conversation even when they are in different
locations. Social media has a huge number of forms, such as, Facebook, Tik-Tok, Instagram
and Twitter.. Students who study abroad or far away from home, in particular, rely on the
aforementioned social media networking sites to easily connect their family and friends.
One research by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (2011) discovered that home was the most
well-like zone of people to use the internet. Furthermore, this statement represents an increase
in demand for social media at home by up to 26% in 2008-2009 among Australian residents.
Moreover, Mark Zuckerberg, who has a genius mind, has created a very popular app-Facebook

To analyze and survey on online media usage and habits of university students, an
investigation was used to clarify the issues mentioned above. The inspection was conducted
around mid-March 2022. The sample size was 52 international students enrolled in an
Academic English course at Western Sydney University who filled out questionnaires. The
majority of students were randomly selected and from the south of Viet Nam.
The instrument of the survey was in the form of a questionnaire. It was created by Google
Forms and used as a research medium. The questionnaire had a total of 11 closed-ended
questions. The first one question elicited information about the individuals of respondents,
specifically the age. Another four questions collected information relating to their favourite
social networking site, the types of devices used for it, how much time was spent on it, and the
location to use it. Moreover, the following two questions gathered information regarding when
they first start using social media and the number of friends they had on social networking
sites. The next two questions gained data relating advertising and their experience when
purchasing goods on social networks. Finally, two questions asked participants to take a stance
on Internet privacy concerns and the confidential information they had put out on social
networks.
The questionnaires were responed online by sending the Google Forms link to WSU students,
who used Messenger. The subjects took 3 minutes to complete all the questions including time

It was evident from the bar chart that the number of students using social networking sites to
communicate with their friends and reach new people was about 23 persons, which means this

The poll was created to display information about social media usage habits, favorite devices,
purpose, and reaction to advertising. Furthermore, this poll assists us in recognizing the rapid
The study's key conclusion was that the majority of students prefer Facebook to other kinds of
social media. It is most likely due to the popularity of Facebook among many individuals
throughout the world, where they can quickly locate friends and share images, status updates,
and tales on a regular basis. More over half of those polled said their favorite device for
accessing Facebook was a mobile phone. It is probable that the mobile phone is slight, and
people use it easily. Nowadays, most young people publicize their email accounts; possibly
they use email to exchange work. Finally, the majority of students polled have an unfavorable

promotion focus (who are oriented towards achieving positive outcomes) have a more positive
study; hence, the data is not representative of all WSU students. Another plausible explanation
