capabilities that are more than their requirements (Mahadevan, 2010, PP. 127). It ensures organization
have strategies that can overcome logistical challenges in emerging markets. This is possible because it
creates long-lasting products for sustainable consumption.

I have also learnt that in order to produce quality products and services, organizations should embrace
managerial competencies. This is an operational management position which helps to drive results and
create an environment of constant improvement based on the desired outcomes of the organization.
Operation management helps manufacturers develop a flexible strategy in order to have a competitive
advantage in the market. Therefore, operational managers have ability to plan resources in order to
meet the customer demands in the competitive market.

The project group helped me to understand that the models such as enterprise resources planning and
supply-chain management, which helps manufacturers to improve the quality of product and services.
This model ensures that organization functions are aligned with customers and overall business policy
therefore increases the need to integrate them with wider business policy.

Therefore, I have learned that operation management plays a significant role in running the business.
This is so because it helps us understand various trends in the world of business. Similarly, it helps
identify the requirements and improvements the organization needs in order to produce quality
products and services. This is the reason why operations management should coordinate with other
organizational functions to promote the quality of the product and services. These functions include
marketing, which aims at generating demand, production, which create products, and finance, which
evaluates the organizational performance. Thus, organizations should employ operation management
because it creates value in the form of products and services.
