Little Reindeer

Skill level: beginner

Materials:

Big (approx. 11cm or 4.3”)

• Drops Muskat DK (50g)
• 3mm hook
Medium (approx. 7cm or 2.8”)
• DMC Petra size 5 (20g)
• 1.75mm hook
Small (approx. 4.5cm or 1.8”)
• DMC Petra size 8
• 0.75mm hook

• Soft toy stuffing

• Needle, scissors
• Stitch marker

Abbreviations:
ch=chain
st/sts=stitch/stitches
ss=slip stitch
sc=single crochet
2sc=inc=increase (2 single crochets in the same st)
dec=invisible decrease (insert hook in the front loops of the next 2sts, yarn over, pull through first 2
loops, yarn over, pull through both loops)

Notes:
• work in continuous spiral, without closing off each round with a ss (except nose section)
• use a stitch marker in the beginning of each round
• stuff as you work or as indicated

Head: with beige, make a magic ring, work in continuous spiral
1. 6sc into magic ring (6)
2. 2sc in each st around (12)
3. *sc, 2sc* repeat around (18)
4. *sc, 2sc, sc* repeat around (24)
5. *2sc, sc, sc, sc* repeat around (30)
6. *sc, 2sc, sc, sc, sc* repeat around (36)
7. sc in each st around (36)
8.-10. repeat round 7.
11. *dec, sc, sc, sc, sc* repeat around (30)
12. sc in each st around (30)
13. *dec, sc in each of next 8sts* repeat around (27)
14. sc in each st around (27)
15.-16. repeat round 14.
Start stuffing
17. *dec, sc in each of next 7sts* repeat around (24)
18. sc in each st around (24)
19. *dec, sc, sc* repeat around (18)
20. *sc, dec* repeat around (12)
Stuff more
21. dec around (6)
Stuff more if needed. Fasten off, leaving a long tail (use it later for sewing head to body)
Using a needle, weave the tail through the front loop of the last 6sts, pull tightly and close the opening.

Body: with beige, make a magic ring, work in continuous spiral

1. 6sc into magic ring (6)

2. 2sc in each st around (12)
3. *sc, 2sc* repeat around (18)
4. *sc, 2sc, sc* repeat around (24)
5. *2sc, sc, sc, sc* repeat around (30)
6. *sc, 2sc, sc, sc, sc* repeat around (36)
7. sc in each st around (36)
8.-11. repeat round 7.
12. *dec, sc, sc, sc, sc* repeat around (30)
13. sc in each st around (30)
14. skip 7sts, sc, (stuff the body) skip 7sts, sc, skip 6sts, sc, skip 6sts, sc

Legs:
First leg: make 10sc around 1st ‘hole’, then make another 4 rounds of 10sc in each round, fasten off
Other legs: reattach yarn
1. 10 sc around the ‘hole’ (10)
2. sc in each st around (10)
3.-5. repeat round 2.
Fasten off, repeat for the other legs, stuff legs and using a needle, weave the tail through the back loop
of the last 10sts, pull tightly and close the opening.

Ear (make 2): with beige, make a magic ring, work in continuous spiral
1. 6sc into magic ring (6)
2. 2sc in each st around (12)
3. *sc, 2sc* repeat around (18)
4. sc in each st around (18)
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing

Nose: with red, make a magic ring, work in rounds, close off each round with a ss
1. 6sc into magic ring, join with ss (6)
2. ch1, 2sc in each st around, join with ss (12)
3. ch1, sc in each st around, join with ss (12)
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing

Assembly:
• Sew head to body and with remaining yarn, make tail (ch3, ss in 2nd from hook, sc in last)
• Sew ears and nose to head
• Embroider 2 eyes
• Antlers: right side: ch7, ss in second from hook, ss in next, ss in next, ch2, ss in second from hook
and ss in each of next across; left side: ch6, ss in second from hook, ss in next, ch3, ss in second
from hook and ss in each of next across
