Intended Goals/ Objectives of the Subjects:


Society and Literature is designed to enhance student’s knowledge and understanding of literary and cultural texts which expands to various topics for
discussion concerning contemporary social interests highly focused in the Philippines and its social, economic and political contexts. It is undeniably relevant to
consider the power and effectiveness of literature in shaping the society as a means of communication and transmission of knowledge, therefore, it is appropriate
and beneficial for students to appreciate, interpret and evaluate the dilemmas and predicaments that confront the Philippine society today. As a reflection of society,
literature through this course enables learners to broaden their perspectives in dealing with present national concerns that became communal through time. As
students get exposed to numerous literary and cultural texts, they are encouraged and may be required to produce their own, and thus contribute to the overall body
of literature
