The focus of the Kick off session is to welcome you to the Leading
Others – Great Teams programme.

Why is it important?

This programme will develop you in the essentials of getting

performance within your team.

Objectives of the Kick off


By the end of the session, you will be able to:

• Explain the importance of becoming a manager of others and


what difference you make at your level

• Describe what your role is in getting results through others,


driving the brand and making an impact in your department or
function

• Understand how the programme works, how it can support your


ability to get results through people and how to make the most
of it

• Commit to fulfil your key responsibilities as a learner in the

This activity is all about understanding how as a result of becoming a leader of others, you
will find yourself having to make decisions all the time. You will work on where you focus your
attention and time.

• How is this model going to help you when choosing what to focus on?

• How do we make sure we keep the hotel brand in mind throughout the programme?

Activity: What does your shadow look like?
Everything you do as a leader is noticed and amplified by the people around you. You are always
on show, what you do will be noticed, giving permission for others to do the same.

Having completed the activity, answer these questions:

• Who do you know casts a very positive shadow? What do they do consistently?

• Which areas of your shadow need attention or need to be more consistent?

• What shadow do you want to cast during this programme?
