Compare and contrast the past and present meanings that we attach to the
symbols and colors of the Philippine flag. Your output will be graded based on

PAST

Philippine Independence)
 The White Triangle: This part of the flag is the
part where it signifies the distinctive emblem of
the famous "Katipunan," which means its blood
compact inspired the masses to rise in
revolution.
 The Three Stars: This signifies the three
principal islands of this archipelago and where
the revolution started, which are Luzon,
Mindanao, and Panay.
 The Sun: This represents the gigantic steps
made by the sons of our country along the path
of progress and civilization.
 The eight rays of the sun: this feature of the flag
represents the eight provinces that
courageously defined and revolted against the
Spaniards.
PRESENT
 The White Triangle: the present meaning of this
part of the flag is liberty, equality, and fraternity.
 The Three Stars: Now the three stars stand for
the three big islands of the Philippines, namely
Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
 The Sun: Now the Sun Stands for Liberty.
 The eight rays of the sun: this represents the
eight provinces that triggered the Philippine
Revolution and which were put under martial
law during the Spanish occupation
 The colors blue, red, and white represent the
following: the white triangle represents Filipino
hope for equality; the upper blue stripe
represents peace, truth, and justice; and the
lower red stripe represents patriotism and valor.
