Vacation...question words

Aims
• to reiterate vocabulary relating to going on vacation
• to provide context for items needed for different vacations
• to improve students confidence and pronounciation
• to introduce simple present tense

Timetable (class= 50 mins)


• 5 mins warmer
• 5 mins vocab
• 15 mins practise
• 15 mins production
• 5 mins cooler

Warmer
Spelling race. Get 2 people from the class and give them each a pen. Show a flash card from the previous
lesson. Its a race to see who writes the word first and who spells it correctly. Maybe girls vs. boys....
if students do not know or cannot remember the flash cards from the previous lesson then i will say
what the flash card is and the students must correctly spell it on the board. The class may shout out to
help their team.

2/8 = a memory game, draw examples of each Q on a large piece of paper, show it to the class for 10
secs then boys vs girls, who can remember the most items and draw them on the board

Presentation

Practise...(T-T...T-S...S-T...S-S)

Brainstorm on the board examples of each vocab word. Get students to shout out contributions. E.g.
Where = Thailand, Mexico etc

Write the question and answer for each vocab word. E.g. Where will you go? I will go to...

Play rock, paper scissors with the students individually. If the students loses I will ask them a question
from the board and they must answer. Make it clear that they can use any of the words from the
brainstorm as an answer if they need to. If they win they pick who I play against next.
Production
Have students ask each other the Q's and answer each other in pairs. Walk around the class and listen to
their pronounciation etc. Correct and give praise where necessary.

Play hangman

Anticipated problems annd solution: lack of confidence- give praise. Pronounciation- correct throughout
class using stronger students.
