WHAT I NEED TO KNOW?


The teacher will present the objectives of the lesson.

2. Use the vocabulary related to dates to engage in simple conversations, such as asking and answering
about someone's birthday
3. Develop confidence and motivation to communicate about dates in Chinese Mandarin

WHAT’S NEW? (SENTENCE OF THE DAY)


The sentence of the day will be presented on the screen. The students will try to read the sentence with correct
tone. The teacher will then explain the meaning of the said sentence. The students will have to repeat the
sentence to their teacher and then to their seatmates.

Developmen The class will be divided into 3 groups. Each group will be given with flashcards of the different months of the
t year in English that they must arrange and post on the board based on the audio recording of the said months
in Chinese Mandarin to be played by the teacher.

WHAT’S IT?
The students will identify if the set of dates written in Chinese and Western calendar system matches each
other by putting a check (/) next to the number in their notebooks and cross (x) if not.
1. April 16, 1994 - yī jiǔ jiǔ sì nián sì yuè shí liù hào
2. July 20, 2006 - èr líng líng liù nián qī yuè èr shí hào
3. March 7, 2020 - èr líng èr líng nián sān yuè qī hào
4. November 2, 1654 - yī liù wǔ sì nián shí yī yuè èr hào
5. September 30, 1811 - yī bā yī yī nián jiǔ yuè sān shí hào

WHAT I CAN DO?


Within 10 minutes, each student will need to complete their personal log by asking the birthdates of the
C. students specifically assigned to them. They will need to properly ask and answer their fellow students about
Engagement their birthdates. The last student who will not be conversing in Mandarin will receive the Gotcha card and will
have to recite the birthdates he/she collected from his/her classmates in front of the class.

or someone’s birthday.
