4267 Parking Brake

Parking Brake repairs should include the following specific jobs:


010 - Remove & Install
020 - Recondition
007 - Recondition After Failure

Each of the above jobs will consist of the following:


Each Job should have SMU's For both 1st and 2nd Intervals, a labor time, a component group number
input in the Group Number Field, and a complete parts list with the exception of the Remove & Install
job. When there are two or more of a component, we will use the EACH quantity modifier and enter the
total number of components in the QUANTITY column. The Labor Code for RECONDITION and
RECONDITION AFTER FAILURE will be SHP, while the Labor Code for REMOVE & INSTALL WILL BE FLD.

SMCS CODES
Use 4267 Parking Brake. Use appropriate job codes and quantity codes to describe the job as needed.

4267-010 - Remove and Install Parking Brake


LABOR
INCLUDES: Labor for remove & install of the component. Includes Start By jobs as shown in the D&A
Manual.
EXCLUDES: Labor to replace mounting hardware, or excessive labor for removal of component due to
any type of failure. Cleaning due to excessive exposure to extreme conditions such as dust and debris.
Excessive labor caused by rust and corrosion.
PARTS
INCLUDES: All parts as necessary to be represented by a non Cat part of a predetermined cost. See Chart
for specific costs.
EXCLUDES: Mounting hardware, fluids and lines.
LABOR TIME: See chart for labor times

4267-020 - Recondition Parking Brake


LABOR
INCLUDES: Labor to replace individual wear parts as follows: Brake lining or pad, springs and seals as
needed.
EXCLUDES: Labor to replace any non wear components due to poor maintenance or a failure.
PARTS
INCLUDES: All seals, brake lining or brake pad and springs as needed. In the event there is no consist,
select the group level component at 100%.
EXCLUDES: Mounting hardware, lines, fittings and any non wear parts.
LABOR TIME: See chart for labor times.

4267-007 - Recondition After Failure Parking Brake


LABOR
INCLUDES: Labor for 100% replacement of the component. In the event the group level component is
not serviced, put 80% usage in the entire consist and change the labor time to equal the Recondition
job.
EXCLUDES: Labor to replace fittings.
PARTS
INCLUDES: Select the group level component at 100%. In the event the group level component is not
serviced, there will be 80% usage on the entire consist.
EXCLUDES: Fittings.
LABOR TIME: See chart for labor times. The labor time should equal the labor time on the 020
Recondition job if usage is 80% of consist.
