In Section 1.1.1, some examples are given of changes to the Earth’s geography. They were
categorized in three types: natural changes, man-made changes and somewhere-in-
between. Provide additional examples of each category.

Examples of natural phenomena:

• Meteor impacts

• Hurricane damages

• Changes in distribution of the Tse-tse Fly

• Occurrence of the Ebola virus

Examples of man-made changes

• Urban fringe growth

• New road and railroad infrastructure

Examples of mixed cases

• Landslides caused by excessive wood consumption

• The spread of river water pollution

The distinctions made are not always clear-cut, and there is room for diffe-
rent opinions.
