AIM :
INVERTOR LC FILTER DESIGN.

COMPONENTS USED
Matlab Simulink

OVERVIEW
An LC filter is a type of electronic filter used to remove unwanted signals or noise from a
circuit. It consists of an inductor (L) and a capacitor (C) connected in series or parallel. The
design of an LC filter depends on the specific application and the characteristics of the signal
to be filtered.
To design an LC filter, the desired cutoff frequency, impedance, and power rating must be
determined. These parameters are then used to calculate the values of the inductor and
capacitor needed for the filter..

CIRCUIT DEVELOPED
QUESTION 1
A three-phase inverter operating with the sinusoidal pulse width modulation with a
fundamental frequency of 50Hz and switching frequency of 5000Hz. The DC bus voltage of
the inverter is kept constant at 847V.
1. Find the modulation index to get the output fundamental RMS line-to-line voltage of
415V.
2. Design the LC filter for the inverter consuming 5KW power at a fundamental
frequency that will keep the load current ripple at 10%.
3. By keeping the same load, vary the inductor value in 10 steps and plot the load current
THD versus inductance change (Keeping Cf=constant).
Step: [0.6Lf 0.7Lf 0.8Lf 0.9Lf Lf 1.1Lf 1.2Lf 1.3Lf 1.4Lf 1.5Lf]
4. By keeping the designed inductance value in the circuit, vary the load power in 10
steps and plot the load current THD versus load power change.
Step: [0.6P 0.7P 0.8P 0.9P P 1.1P 1.2P 1.3P 1.4P 1.5P]
