NOTE: As per EASA IR 21, a minor change is one that has no appreciable effect on the
mass, balance, structural strength, reliability, operational characteristics affecting
the airworthiness of the product. All other changes are major changes.
B. REASON
(1) History
This Service Bulletin consists in installing Flight Augmentation Computer (FAC) CAA13
standard in place of FAC CAA12 standard by a software upgrade on New Engine Option
(NEO) aircraft.
The FAC CAA13 is supporting Runway Overrun Prevention System (ROPS) function
evolutions and additional safety enhancements.
(2) Objective/Action
This Service Bulletin is published to advise all operators of A319 NEO, A320 NEO and
A321 NEO aircraft of the issue of THALES Service Bulletin No. C13206A-22-001 which
replaces both FAC operational software (FIN 1CC1SW1 and FIN 1CC2SW1) Part Number
(PN) G2856AAA12 installed by MOD No. 163880P20599 (Service Bulletin No. A320-22-
1737) by new PN C13206AA13 in both FACs.
This Service Bulletin replaces, in the stowage box in the cockpit, the disk (FIN 1CC
MD1) PN F1424419 installed by MOD No. 163880P20599 (Service Bulletin No. A320-
22-1737) by a new PN F1424465.
(3) Advantages
Main improvements introduced by the FAC CAA13 standard are:
- ROPS function improvement:

- Runway end Overrun Warning (ROW)/Runway Overrun Protection (ROP)
distances computation improvement for all Single Aisle (SA) family
- For A320 NEO, performance model is updated to cover the increase of the
Maximum Landing Weight (MLW) up to 64.8 tons
- A319 NEO Pratt and Whitney (PW) ROPS tuning availability
- For A321 NEO, tunings for Meggitt Air Braking System (MABS) brakes.
NOTE: ROPS function which is pin-programmed is activated by MOD No.

161514P15323 (Service Bulletin No. A320-22–1761).
NOTE: MABS brakes tuning are applied in the FAC if the MOD No. 165660J4608 or
MOD No. 165661J4609 is already embodied.

- Safety beyond standard improvements:

- Introduction of a new amber Electronic Centralized Aircraft Monitoring
(ECAM) caution “AUTO FLT FAC VERSIONS DISAGREE” to warn the flight/
maintenance crew in case of software configurations mismatch between
FAC1 and FAC2
- Unreliable Airspeed Mitigation Mean (UAMM) tunings
- Improvement of stall warning computation in clean CONF (used for
Autopilot (AP) disconnection in degraded law). New thresholds consistent
with stall warning audio from Flight Warning System (FWS) F13B.
NOTE: Amber ECAM function requires Flight Warning Computer (FWC) F13 software.
NOTE: UAMM function which is pin-programmed is activated by MOD No.

163909P20614.
- Fault Isolation and Detection System (FIDS) and Built-In Test (BITE) modifications:
- Automatic Flight System (AFS) maintenance messages improvement: error
code of the failure is added to the displayed message on Post Flight Report
(PFR) to identify failure root cause
- Removal of spurious “AFS:FADEC” message in single engine taxi operation.
- For A320 NEO, tuning of valpha prot in CONF 2, consistent with the Elevator
Aileron Computer (ELAC) AoAprot threshold value (from ELAC L103 standard).

The Operational/Maintenance Consequences of this Service Bulletin are covered by
the update of the affected publications detailed in "PLANNING INFORMATION".

C. REASON
(1) History
This Service Bulletin consists in installing Flight Augmentation Computer (FAC) CAA13
standard in place of FAC CAA12 standard by a software upgrade on New Engine Option
(NEO) aircraft.
The FAC CAA13 is supporting Runway Overrun Prevention System (ROPS) function
evolutions and additional safety enhancements.
(2) Objective/Action
This Service Bulletin is published to advise all operators of A319 NEO, A320 NEO and
A321 NEO aircraft of the issue of THALES Service Bulletin No. C13206A-22-001 which
replaces both FAC operational software (FIN 1CC1SW1 and FIN 1CC2SW1) Part Number
(PN) G2856AAA12 installed by MOD No. 163880P20599 (Service Bulletin No. A320-22-
1737) by new PN C13206AA13 in both FACs.
This Service Bulletin replaces, in the stowage box in the cockpit, the disk (FIN 1CC
MD1) PN F1424419 installed by MOD No. 163880P20599 (Service Bulletin No. A320-
22-1737) by a new PN F1424465.
(3) Advantages
Main improvements introduced by the FAC CAA13 standard are:

- Introduction of a new amber Electronic Centralized Aircraft Monitoring
(ECAM) caution “AUTO FLT FAC VERSIONS DISAGREE” to warn the flight/
maintenance crew in case of software configurations mismatch between
FAC1 and FAC2
- Unreliable Airspeed Mitigation Mean (UAMM) tunings
- Improvement of stall warning computation in clean CONF (used for
Autopilot (AP) disconnection in degraded law). New thresholds consistent
with stall warning audio from Flight Warning System (FWS) F13B.

- Fault Isolation and Detection System (FIDS) and Built-In Test (BITE) modifications:
- Automatic Flight System (AFS) maintenance messages improvement: error
code of the failure is added to the displayed message on Post Flight Report
(PFR) to identify failure root cause
- Removal of spurious “AFS:FADEC” message in single engine taxi operation.
- For A320 NEO, tuning of valpha prot in CONF 2, consistent with the Elevator
Aileron Computer (ELAC) AoAprot threshold value (from ELAC L103 standard).

OPTION 2 - Modification of the FAC(s) Operational Software in accordance with VSB on Bench
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE WARNINGS AND ALL THE CAUTIONS
INCLUDED IN THE REFERENCED PROCEDURES.
CAUTION: ALWAYS OBEY THE PRECAUTIONS THAT FOLLOW TO KEEP ELECTRICAL

WIRING IN A SATISFACTORY CONDITION (ELECTRICALLY AND MECHANICALLY
SERVICEABLE). WHEN YOU DO A MAINTENANCE WORK, REPAIRS OR
MODIFICATIONS, ALWAYS KEEP ELECTRICAL WIRING, COMPONENTS AND
THE WORK AREA AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE. TO DO THIS:
- PUT PROTECTION, SUCH AS PLASTIC SHEETING, CLOTHS, ETC., AS
NECESSARY ON WIRING AND COMPONENTS.
- REGULARLY REMOVE ALL SHAVINGS, UNWANTED MATERIAL AND
OTHER CONTAMINATION.
THESE PRECAUTIONS WILL DECREASE THE RISK OF CONTAMINATION AND
DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL WIRING INSTALLATION.
IF THERE IS CONTAMINATION, REFER TO Ref. ESPM 20-50-00.
NOTE: The accomplishment instructions of this Service Bulletin include procedures given in
other documents or in other sections of the Service Bulletin. When the words “refer to”
are used and the operator has a procedure accepted by the local authority he belongs to,
the accepted alternative procedure can be used. When the words “in accordance with”
