CHECK OF BRIDGE FOR DERAILMENT LOADS

Derailment Case as per IRS Bridge Rules Appendix XXV

Case A: ULS case (with guard rails) 2 line loads of 7.5t/m at 1.6m distance at 1.3m from track CL.
Load to be considered 15 T/m (for 2 line loads)
Dispersion width for the load = 3.05 m
(taken as per Cl.2.3.4.2 (b) of Bridge Rules = 1/4 of span on each side)
Load to be considered 15 T/m / 3.05 m width = 4.92 T/m for model
OR 50.00 kN/m
Case B: ULS case (with guard rails) 20ton load at 1.3m from track CL.
Load to be considered 20 T point load
Dispersion width for the load = 3.05 m
Load to be considered 20 T / 3.05 m width = 6.56 T for model
OR 65.60 kN/m
Case C: STABILITY case (with guard rails) 9.4 T/M load (20m length) at edge of superstructure
Total Load for derailment = 9.4 T/m
Stability is not a criteria for RC Box RUB. Hence, this is not considered.

Case D: SLS case (with guard rails) 2 line loads of 1.5t/m at 1.6m distance at 1.3m from track CL.
Load to be considered 3 T/m (for 2 line loads)
Dispersion width for the load = 3.05 m
Load to be considered 3 T/m / 3.05 m width = 0.98 T for model
OR 10.00 kN/m
Case E: SLS case (with guard rails) 10ton load at 1.3m from track CL.
Load to be considered 10 T point load
Dispersion width for the load = 3.05 m
Load to be considered 10 T / 3.05 m width = 3.28 T for model
OR 33.00 kN/m

Since Derailment loading is not governing, it is not considered as a primary load case and
susequently in other load combinations.

CHECK FOR PQRS LOADING

Loading of PQRS = 5 T per wheel X 2 = 10t per axle
Dispersion width for PQRS along the traffic = 2.8 M (2.5+.3+cushion)
Hence axle loading = 3.57 T/m width

CDA during PQRS Loading

Design speed = 20 kmph

CDA 1.000 => 2.000

Reduction factor Vr/V = 20 kmph / 125 kmph = 0.16

Revised CDA = 1.000 x 0.16 = 0.1600 => 1.160

PQRS Load = 41.43 kN/m Factored PQRS Load = 58 KN/m

Since PQRS loading is not governing it is not considered in STAAD model and in
subsequent design
